Soo what do I do if I don't have an "Appeal" tab on the faaps website?

Do you get your fin aid emailed to you? I submitted my need based app. Completed my FAFSA before I was even admitted to NYU (they were just one of the schools I threw in there). Is there something else I must do?

Answers to both of these questions are a couple pages back. You email finaid to get them to open up the Appeal tab. You're notified of your award through an email from the faaps website (https://faaps.law.nyu.edu/studentmain.html) and if you've completed NeedAccess and FAFSA, there's nothing else you need to do.Oskosh wrote:Do you get your fin aid emailed to you? Anyone know how long it takes for your financial aid app to go from final stage of review to being sent to you?

I just accepted an RTK offer, emailed on day of interview (I'm international). PM me if you have questions. Good luck to those still waiting to hear back about them! I was talking to a current scholar who wasn't offered RTK until Friday after the interview, so you still have hope.

Hey guys - just got admitted in the last week and trying to get a sense for what aid options are. I had applied to RTK though seeing as how I've just now been admitted I assume that's out of the question. Is that safe to assume? Or is there possibility of being considered if RTK awardees decide to not go to NYU?
Is my only option at this point some kind of matching aid leveraging scholarships at other schools? Not sure if I'm also very late to the party on that option.

Re: NYU c/o 2018
You're out of luck with the RTK. They interview 60 some people for 20 spots, so they have plenty of backups. You are still eligible for other merit-based aid though (and unsubstantiated rumors say that NYU is slightly more generous to those interested in public service). Fill out the need-access and fafsa and wait for a response.hecktate wrote:Hey guys - just got admitted in the last week and trying to get a sense for what aid options are. Re: NYU c/o 2018
Just got my finaid award - something called the Dean's Award Scholarship.
Can anybody give me more context on the Dean's Award and what this means? Is this just a fancy name for my combination of merit and need aid or is it an actual, distinct award?
Apologies in advance for the naivete if this is something I should know about and just don't

It's just general aid! All non-named aid awards are "Dean's Scholarships."mac665 wrote:Just got my finaid award - something called the Dean's Award Scholarship.

Just got my appeal denied, pretty disappointed, really wanted to go to NYU but looks like Chicago or Penn is where I am headed, not sure if I have any chance at negotiating with Chicago anymore either.

I submitted appeal on March 16th, and was negotiating with an ~20% larger offer from Chicago.fra wrote:Sorry to hear this. Re: NYU c/o 2018
Appeal denied - kinda annoyed because Chicago gave me the same money each year but doesn't cut it in half for the 3rd year. Now I have to decide if my desire to live in NYC is worth a loss of 12.5k AND the increased COL... sweet
ETA: Sorry for whining about might be awesome opportunities to others - just wanted to vent since I'd gladly give someone my Chi $ if it meant NYU would up their offer, but now I'm unsure of what to do

Re: NYU c/o 2018
Yeah I am in same exact numbers situation, except I guess I have the benefit of knowing that I cannot accept that amount from NYU due to international student loan limitations. Really thought NYU would at least match Chicago. Maybe Columbia will shock me with a Butler off of hold lol.tonysoprano wrote:Appeal denied - kinda annoyed because Chicago gave me the same money each year but doesn't cut it in half for the 3rd year. Just got my appeal (denied). Looks like NYU is officially out for me and that I'll be accepting Dillard at UVA (which I'm definitely not complaining about!)

Appeal denied here as well, submitted 3/24. I thought they would budge a little in the face of a much higher offer, but I guess not.

Re: NYU c/o 2018
So my appeal was actually granted and they matched my Chicago award. I'm really (pleasantly) shocked because I started from $0 at NYU and Chicago gave me a significant scholarship. They do say it will decrease 3L year if I don't do PI 2L summer, but I was planning to do PI anyway.
