For someone living in a very warm part of the country, what type of clothes should we be purchasing for the brutal winters?
Are thermals necessary?

Do you need a car to function in Michigan?

It would be convenient to have a car but it's not a necessity. I found the campus and the city buses to be quite convenient when I lived in AAChemEng1642 wrote:Do you need a car to function in Michigan?

I really don't think a car is necessary in AA. Everything seems to be well-connected by city buses and blue buses. Well, at least you won't need it for the first year when you will be spending most of your time in reading room.jawsjawsjaws wrote:It would be convenient to have a car but it's not a necessity. Which ASW is everyone planning on going to? I'm thinking March because it will probably be easier with work, but am not sure yet...

Hey Everyone,
Congrats again on picking Michigan. Jealous that you'll be here for Harbough's first three seasons.
I'm reposting an earlier post. I have a 2BR/1BA apartment and my roommate and I are both looking for sublets. The place is really nice (granite, stainless, hard wood, etc) and 2 blocks from the law school. For photos you can check out this airbnb posting for my room: (apt and rooms are fully furnished) https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5091536
If one or two of you are interested in the place please let me know. I'll take inquiries for just my room or for the whole place (since I'm sure some of you would like to room with a fellow summer-starter). $975/room is what we pay, I'm asking for $950 on Airbnb I think.
PM me if interested.

Re: Michigan Law c/o 2018
Hello. I was admitted in mid-November and haven't heard anything about scholarship money but I did receive a phone call from an admissions officer about 2 weeks telling me that they would be willing to negotiate with me and would consider what their peer schools offered me. So I'm really confused.

Has anyone seen the Munger Graduate Residences (under construction) in person? Are they close to the law school?
Also, what are the alumni receptions?

Uhh well I wouldn't go so far as to say that. There is no grocery store within walking distance to campus, and buses to Meijer/Kroger suck not only because of their infrequency (and length of trip for that matter) but also because you can obviously only buy what you can carry with you.hillz wrote:That's awesome - I had no idea public transportation was so good there!taptaptop wrote:I really don't think a car is necessary in AA. If you don't have a car it would be wise to make friends with someone who does.
$950 is just way too much for a half apartment sublet, don't take the bait. You can find something cheaper and just as close.

So taking into consideration a plane ticket, hotel accommodations, and travel to and from the airport, am I wrong in assuming ASW would cost close to $600?

If you book the hotel through Mich, it's $20/night. But other than that, doesn't sound like they help with cost at all.Winston1984 wrote:So taking into consideration a plane ticket, hotel accommodations, and travel to and from the airport, am I wrong in assuming ASW would cost close to $600?
