I don't think there's anything that I dislike about it. I'm still just all-around pleased with my choice and glad to be here.
1. No Google Fiber (yet)
2. No Chipotle delivery (yet)
3. Time Warner Cable
I stand corrected :P

Moving in to my apartment in Durham tomorrow. The wife got an excellent job offer, so we stepped up our timetable.

Was traveling through the area yesterday so looked at a few apartments. Garrett West, Century Trinity, Alden Place and Parc at University. Rode through Pinnacle Ridge as office was not open on Sunday. So, where is everyone living? For any current Duke Law students....where have you lived and what did you like/not like about where you lived?

I will try to post my thoughts on what I looked at yesterday when I have better internet.

Thanks

I shall be moving into University Apartments this August. Reasonable price, space and proximity to the most frequented places. Hope it works out

No more apartments for me. I refuse to share a wall if I can help it.

I live in a (going on 3-year-old) townhouse in SE Durham near the intersection of Fayetteville St and MLK Pkwy. I'm extremely pleased with most everything about the decision. The only general drawback is that it's less effortless to be social, but otherwise, I'm paying $600 + utilities per month to share a 3bd/3.5ba apartment with one (grad student but non-law student) roommate, and my bedroom alone is ~700sqft. I found it on DukeList, so anyone to whom something similar appeals should feel free to check the listings there.

Otherwise, I don't think anyone can go wrong with the popular complexes that have been mentioned over and over ITT. There are plenty of nice, affordable options in Durham, from apartments to townhouses to house rentals.

I ended up in Colonial Village at Deerfield. The apartment is a little small and the appliances are old, but the complex facilities are very nice and I'm a strong sneeze away from the law school. I'm pretty satisfied, though I expect to move out after 1L. (Also, moving in was a beast. So much gatorade needed...)

So did everyone set up their Duke email? I thought we would get a @law.duke.edu or something. Is it just @duke.edu or did I do something wrong?

Good answer. I am feeling exactly the same way. First to call and give whoever answers the phone at IT a piece of our mind wins.

I would call but I only have wifi, and I am literally using some random wifi in the middle of fucking nowhere in Greece.

Maybe just a strongly worded email then? Also, you should definitely change your username still.

There are actually multiple email addresses that'll work for you. For me:

xyz99@duke.edu (xyz = initials)
xyz99@lawnet.duke.edu
firstname.lastname@duke.edu
firstname.lastname@lawnet.duke.edu

The Heights are gorgeous. As long as it's within your budget, you should be pleased with the choice.

Good to hear. It's a little more than I wanted but it should be ok. I don't have a car which limited my options a bit.

Too peasant for Heights :(

So are most of you guys getting your own place or getting roommates? I'm thinking of doing the latter.
