Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2018 Admits
Just received the Levy via email! I am super excited for ASW in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to see what Penn's campus is like.

Just to be anal, when you say "just received" does that mean within the last 15 minutes or so? I had started thinking we were done for the day.superpatton wrote:Just received the Levy via email! I am super excited for ASW in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to see what Penn's campus is like.
Congrats either way!

Apparently I'm an alternate. Anyone know the chances of getting a Wilson/ any $ after this and when I could expect it? I'm thinking not good.

So has anyone else who was invited not received some sort of notification today? Maybe Silverman-Rodin is just a different system. Or maybe I am deluding myself so I don't feel rejected.

Sorry to hear that :/ Just keep in mind that not everyone offered will matriculate - Penn offers these scholarships to lure people away from YHS acceptances and great $$ elsewhere and they won't always be successful. I'd expect the money to open up after April 15 when scholly people have to make their decisions.NotASpecialSnowflake wrote:Apparently I'm an alternate. I would guess that alternates are awarded scholarships as original recipients decline them. Depending on how many declines they build in to their original offer, chances could be very good.NotASpecialSnowflake wrote:Apparently I'm an alternate. For example, if their goal is to get 10 people on wilsons and they only extend 10 initially, then they will certainly be moving to alternates as people decline

I wonder if it's possible to move up. E.g. JW to S-R or S-R to Levy. (Or JW to Levy)yot11 wrote:I would guess that alternates are awarded scholarships as original recipients decline them. I would not be shocked if it is possible to move up (although I doubt not JW to S-R, since they are very similar amounts and only 2 S-R are given out.nickhalden wrote:I wonder if it's possible to move up. Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2018 Admits
I wouldn't say that it's impossible. If they run out of levy invites to offer, then I would imagine they would start picking from other pools. Again depends on how many declines they build in to their original invites.nickhalden wrote:I wonder if it's possible to move up. E.g. JW to S-R or S-R to Levy. I thought the email said that at least 2 S-R would be given out. Not that there are only 2 total.Auxilio wrote:I would not be shocked if it is possible to move up (although I doubt not JW to S-R, since they are very similar amounts and only 2 S-R are given out.nickhalden wrote:I wonder if it's possible to move up. I was invited to apply for S-R earlier, but have not heard anything today.

Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2018 Admits
The email said at least two, but on https://www.law.upenn.edu/admissions/fi ... rships.php it states "Two students from the Class of 2017 will receive a Silverman-Rodin Scholarship" which seems more limiting. Not sure which to go with.jemthey17 wrote:I thought the email said that at least 2 S-R would be given out. Not that there are only 2 total.Auxilio wrote:

Also very comforting to see someone else with S-R who has not heard anything, I think it might just be on a different timeline since I think the odds of both of us not even getting an alternative email is very slim. I cannot believe they hand out very many invites for 2+ awards.

Congrats to those w/ scholly awards today!
I still haven't heard anything either way, which can't be a good sign. Hopefully they'll at least send some news tomorrow.

Sounds like another wave of named scholarships are going out today via email. Not sure what the reason for the delay would be, but I bet some ITT who haven't heard back either way will today.
