After Bar Admission (NY)

Post by Borris » Tue Aug 20, 2019 10:18 pm

Just wondering if there are any further steps required for admission to the NY State Bar following the oath ceremony?

Someone mentioned to me that you need to receive a “confirmation of membership” to the New York Bar Association, before you are considered barred. Does anyone have experience with this? If so, what is the process for obtaining this confirmation / how long does it take to receive?

It takes about 3-4 days. Basically, go online to the NYS attorney lookup to see if your name is there.
