Yeah, IMO the note requirement for a secondary journal should easily and rightly scare you off.

I know of many 2L friends who got onto VLBR and have only done 1 cite check so far, if that helps any 1L's decide.

Re: UVA Law Students Taking Questions
doubt it. on paper they require you to secure admission normally to both if you do the joint jd-mba program (which they also, again on paper, close you out of after you've completed 1L). so that probably means GMAT at minimum (and probably WE too). http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/academics/mba.htm
not directly on point, but i also know that people in other grad schools (PhD programs + med school) that decided to tack on a JD had to take the LSAT and apply normally to get into the law school.

I'm not certain about no GMAT but I definitely know of people who did it with no W/E.

If you don't get Law Review, then you should do the journal that requires the least amount of work.
Only law students parse the relative preftige of secondary journals.

Does anyone know how professor grade seminars with say, than 10 people (or where I could get information on the topic)? Is the curve the average of the student's GPA's or is it still a 3.3 curve?

one more neurotic gpa related question cuz i don't know where one finds out about this stuff, but the leaked gpas from a couple years ago put the median at like 3.42 i think. is that more accurate for 1L year than the 3.3 number thrown around, or were the leaked numbers not representative of 1L year?

Not even close, but I LOVE picking classes. Taking them, not so much. But picking them is the best. There's so much hope, and I can usually convince myself that I'll actually study next semester.Br3v wrote:Is it time to start thinking about classes?North wrote:Anybody here done the Nonprofit Clinic? Does anyone have any experience with the Prosecution Clinic? And does everyone get a B+, or is there a legit curve for the graded stuff.

Edit: Oh dude - I went there. It's meh - awful service. There's a place in Richmond that has much better rotisserie chicken.

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but class selection for the fall won't happen until mid-summer. But to echo, picking classes in the lottery is SO MUCH FUN. I ALWAYS get exactly what I wanted.

So obviously VJIL is crazy but does anyone have a sense of what the workload at the other journals is like (specifically tax and jolt)? Also do recruiters look at the kind of journal and think it actually reflects an interest of yours, or is it just "oh I see you're on [some secondary journal], how have you liked that?" Crim says it has a low workload which sounds nice but I wouldn't want to have to try and square an apparent interest in crim with an actual interest in doing corp.

Doesn't matter. Vjolt is pretty low impact from what I hear. Don't know about tax.McGruff wrote:So obviously VJIL is crazy but does anyone have a sense of what the workload at the other journals is like (specifically tax and jolt)? VJIL and Law and Politics are the two "must avoid" - don't know much about the others.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
