Hey I got a big scholar too. I went to Loy under in MD. I heard that although its t3 it is still a reputable school. Im still researching as well. Plus I really want to get off that American waitlist.

However, I knew from undergrad that Loyola has a lot of money, but once you go there they start to act funny with the money.

I recommend that you avoid Loyola College of Law New Orleans. Read the following true account of my experience at the school. You will encounter many of the people named within the chronicle. And if you do attend, give me a wave should you see me passing the school in my blue Dodge pick-up.

Although I, myself, am a Cali law student at McGeorge, my good friend will be a 2L at Loyola Law next year. Don't know too much about the school other than some very good remarks that I've heard from people over the years. I guess Loyola Law is also very competitive in the Texas legal market too as I know a big Dallas firm filled with Loyola New Orleans Law grads.
On the other hand, Tulane is one of the most over-rated law schools in the nation. If you have ever been to Orleans, you know that Loyola and Tulane basically share a campus but the Loyola buildings are far nicer. Plus, there is no way Tulane should be top tier especially now that it is so clear that the inflate in the starting salary numbers and who knows what else.

Could you elaborate on the salary inflation issue? I am not familiar with this.

This is clearly high-level rhetoric. You can't argue with that.

Tulane is a fine school.

If you're interested in working in New Orleans, you can do it from Loyola, too.

Of course Tulane is a good school, no one said otherwise. I did not mean to confuse anyone with my previous comment. I was merely trying to point out that there have been issues with Tulane's top tier rankings. In terms of the inflation issue, here is a ABA Journal article that should clarify: http://abajournal.com/news/harvard_yale ... _rankings/

Also, just a personal observation is that Tulane and Loyola are comparatively very similar in many aspects but they are still ranked very far apart - and it would difficult for anyone to convince me of a good justification for this. For example, the both have a strong alumni base in NO (although Loyola is stronger in this respect) and both have decent out-of-state recognition as well (although Tulane is stronger in the respect). In terms of campuses, the two basically share a campus and resources (Loyola's architecture is much more profound and its law library is bigger but Tulane's buildings are newer and the law building is larger). Both schools have outstanding and internationally recognized professors. The ciricula is largely the same (with the civil law aspect) and so forth...

I myself applied to both Tulane and Loyola because I LOVED the city but I decided in the end to stay closer to my family. Both are indeed great schools but I just can't explain why the are not ranked closer together...

People, let me tell you. Loyola College of Law New Orleans will remain a pit as long as Lawrence Moore, S.J., remains the Associate Dean. That is all there is to it. Then, some of the faculty members could use a judicially sponsored re-education camp, the focus being that though shall not make sexual overtures towards students.

They need to get that baloney about excepting any student regardless of their sexual orientation out of the catalog, or whichever document it is in. First of all, sexual acts other than heterosexual acts are illegal in Louisiana, last time that I checked. So, this very language indicates the willingness of this school to, if not encourage activities that flout the law of the State of Louisiana, to disregard any illegal activities that they suspect.

Loyola College of Law, New Orleans, if the language about sexual preferences remains extant, invites criminals to the law school. It might not be a bad idea that persons of a bi- or homosexual nature state their preferences upon application and then submit some type of affadavit that they have undergone treatment. Until the law is changed, there needs to be some type of school sex offender registry.

As a matter of fact, if you were to visit Associate Dean Lawrence Moore's office as an emotionally distraught supplicant, he will invite you to break the law. Been there, been invited to do that, and being a practicing heterosexual [since womb exit] not done that.

As a matter of fact, I should still have the letter from Loyola's counsel admitting that Associate Dean Lawrence Moore 'touched himself.' Nope, that's not what he was doing. He was vigorously rubbing himself.

Now, do not get me wrong. It is my personal belief that what two consenting adults do in privacy is thier own business. However, and despite the fact that the judiciary follows the law of the State of Louisiana when it suits them to do so, it remains the law.

WOAH! Apparently, you have some serious issues you need to work out. I feel for ya (I think) but what does this have to do with the school, exactly?

In the words of william brian london, Loyola "...is a fine school".

So take it easy with the rhetoric.

Take it easy with the rhetoric? The administration of this school was dirty. I mean as in criminally.

Let me tell you what I did.

As my time at Loyola College of Law was drawing to an end I had a meeting scheduled with Lawrence Moore, Associate Dean and sexual predator. I decided that I wanted to record this meeting as I trusted none of these people as far as could throw a school bus. So, at my home, after my wife had left for work, I got a digital audio recorder out of the cupboard along with a remote wired mike. I put these items in my black leather book bag. I left for school.

I arrived at school some minutes prior to the meeting. I went to the Pine Street Cafe' and went into one of the two single person bathrooms adjacent to the rear exit of the building. After closing the door, pulling down my trousers and having a seat, I took the digital recorder and mike out of my book bag. I inserted the recorder into my sock, plugged in the mike and ran it up my leg. I pulled up my trousers and positioned the mike just above my belt buckle. I pulled my somewhat baggy shirt down over my somewhat baggy trousers and exited the bathroom.

I went over to the law building, went to the fourth floor and took a seat outside the Dean's suite on a small couch. After a few minutes an obese man, sweaty and jaundiced looking, passed me and stared directly at the pants leg at the exact area I had the recorder concealed. This guy entered the Dean's suite. A few minutes later Lawrence Moore passed by. As he passed he stared at the waist of my trousers, exactly where I had the mike positioned. Lawrence Moore, S.J., then entered the Dean's suite. Further, when I state stared, that is what I mean, a prolonged look at the precise areas in which I had these devices concealed.

A few minutes later Kathleen Breaux came to the door of the Dean's suite and informed me the meeting had been canceled. She stated no reason.

You can take this set of facts how you want to, but I believe beyond all doubt that this school had video surveillance of the bathrooms at that time. So, its like this, do you know somebody at Loyola College of Law, New Orleans? If so, and if on the possibility that I am not crazy and the facts are as I've stated, do you think that students should be forewarned of the possibility?

I'll repost this on my livejournal in a couple of days. Actually, although I believe I covered this in my blog, it will not hurt to repost it again. Especially as my goal is that prior to my eventual death Loyola College of Law or any derivative of the name cannot be web searched without something I wrote about the place being a prominent result. Although I stated early on in my original blog is that all it would take to end it is a very polite telephone call, it has gone far beyond that now.

Oh Lord. Yes, read the xoxo thing.

"The difference between LSU Law and Loyola Law was this: LSU Law took a little bit of my money and drove me out, Loyola Law took a lot of my money and threw me out. And both schools did this because I did not have sex with any person other than my spouse. I see no other way to see it."

Sounds to me like there weren't cameras in the bathroom. Sounds more like the above poster just did an awful job of concealing the audio device in the pants since everyone that passed by could notice that something was odd. That was by far the oddest thing I have read on this site in a long time.

Sorry buddy, not only were the devices small and well concealed, and not only was I cool as a cucumber, there weren't very many people about. Beyond that, I did not immediately jump to the conclusion but reflected on everything that had transpired that morning prior to arriving at that conclusion. I had and have no doubt about it.

Hey LSU Lawless, you seem to have a huge problem with LA law schools. My question is why don't you have any beef with Tulane? Because I think they hate you too and probably would have had the same "experiences" there too since all LA law schools are evil. Please give some insight, I am fascinated!

Nope, I have no problem with Tulane. In fact, I was treated quite well at Tulane. I made extensive use of their law library early in 2003, over a period of months. No person was other than polite at any time.

That makes as much sense as horsesh**. Sounds to me like the mystery has been solved: you're just another insane Tulane student who wants to make a bad name for LSU and Loyola. How the heck would you have gone to all three LA law schools? Do you realize how insane you are and that making up all of this crap means you have no life? I think you need to get up from infront of the pornbox and try to socialize with the real world!

You are one sad little boy...
