I asked about winter 'cause 1) I know HLS has classes inter session (which I'm on the WL for) and 2) my family is planning a vacation and I want to be able to commit.

I feel like I'm anti-gunner. I am worried I'll fall behind because of how little I care at this point / how little I did in UG.

I guess it'll work itself out though.

Do people get 1L SA in NYC ?

I can already tell the 1L class is going to be amusing.

1L SAs are rare. The people that have them tend to be in secondary/tertiary markets, in a diversity program at a firm, or from Texas.

Perhaps HLS has a longer break. I cannot imagine learning a classes worth of material in 4 weeks.

Yeah people get 1L's SA's all over. I know of 3 at MoFo (not sure which office), 1 at Cooley in DC, and 1 in a firm in Philly.

It's a fake class in their intersession- a lot of people go on service trips, etc. Their break is also substantially longer than ours as a result.

The MoFo ones are all at least part in Tokyo (one's split with seattle) and all speak fluent Japanese.

I also know of 1L SAs in Wilmington, Kansas City, and Denver (midlaw). I agree the "URM, small town, or Texas" rule generally applies, barring fluency in a rare language.

I don't know why having 1500 posts as an 0L is anything to mock, particularly when many people use this board exclusively for LSAT prep and admissions stuff.

Toothbrush is going to get into Harvard and then run away as fast as he can.

Fortunately I'm not looking for the acceptance of some 3Ls?

I came to the thread for the first time to get some questions answered. I think that's the purpose of this thread?

Not sure what I did to get you riled up, bud.

I let the 1500 posts comment slide because I know that's not even a lot. Doesn't Mal have like 5k posts? And there are people with 30k posts who never even went to law school. Egregious offenses.

Nothin'. You're fine. Don't sweat it.

And I, for one, have no judgment re: post counts. The vast majority of my posts are in the college football thread.

Moving on...

So I notice that Arnold and Porter's GPA median for callbacks jumped from 3.55 to 3.8... what's the story there? I have ties to the DC area, and I was interested in them based on last year's info (and their litigation practice and pro bono scheme) but that jump is intimidating.

Small sample size plus grade inflation, I bet.

Edit: I wouldn't be too intimidated. DC is tough, but if you want to end up there, I would still bid on A&P; it's a better bet than Covington or W&C.

Has to be. Usually only a couple people even bother interviewing for DC offices.

Covington doesn't even recruit for us.

And why no Cleary D.C. love?

I didn't realize Covington was so snobby. Dicks. I never bid DC, so I didn't realize.

No slight intended w/r/t Cleary. I was just blurting out DC firms, and despite a pretty large office in DC, Cleary is still a NYC firm.

Also, Arbiter, you must be having a chill SA considering how much time you spend on here during the day. 8)
