Big Law Associates: Would You Rather Shovel Shit?

Post by yossarian » Sat Apr 26, 2014 11:02 pm

Hypothetical came up at a dinner party. Would you rather shovel shit 9-5 for twenty years $160k with COL increases tied to inflation than do big law?

Would you rather fuck a goat and have nobody know you fucked a goat, or not fuck a goat and have everyone think you did?

I think y'all are underestimating the quality of life inhibiting factor that is constantly smelling like shit and owning lots of shit covered things and shit particles in the nose all the time.

But I've never done big law.

You've gotta at least make it like 7AM - 8PM and 5 hrs on wkends and have someone screaming at you to shovel faster to make it a fair comparison

Also a factor is whether you get a set pile of shit to shovel in the morning such that by the time five rolls around, if you've worked hard and smart, you've pretty much moved that shit pile from point A to point B. That would allow you to take pride in your accomplishments, the quality of your work (I wouldn't leave a speck of shit at point A), your improvements in strength and shoveling strategy, etc.--all things that are very important for mental wellbeing. If you just had to monotonously shovel an endless mountain of shit, you'd probably become very depressed or go insane. A friend of mine actually worked at a Mega Blocks factory once and said people would spontaneously burst into tears all the time.

It's the latter. It's the worst 8 hrs there is. Covered in shit. Smelling shit. Moving shit. For no reason. A great sisephyian task without reason only suffering. But a true 40 hrs. And enough money in 20 years to retire

Dude I could easily retire after 10 years on this type of job. This sounds like heaven.

Does YHS place better at this kind of job than CCN? If so, how much additional debt do you think it's worth taking on for YHS?

This is amazing. Is everyone assigned one type/color of block to make? Is it someone's job to just load the plastic into the extruder? What did your friend do? What did the criers do? Is the Lego factory better? Are you allowed to make a fort to work in?

Man, that sentence brings up so many questions.
