Recommendations? How much time do I have before most apartments are filled? Is there a general complex, area where law students seem to be?
I'm probably going to have to arrange a place sight unseen, so anything to give me a better idea would be great.
Also, can anybody vouch for this complex?

Re: Iowa Housing
I actually live in that apartment complex right now and have been here all three years. The apartments themselves aren't really anything to write home about, but the rent is pretty cheap and the location is awesome (see below). However, there are no dishwashers in the units and laundry room is on the first floor (you have to go outside to get to it). The landlord is very nice and very responsive to any questions / maintenance problems / concerns I've had (which really haven't been many). The selling point of the building for law students is the location - the building is extremely close to the law school (under five minutes walking) and many other law students live here. The population of the complex is about half grad students and half undergrads. If you're into tailgating, it's a great place for that during football season. If you're not, the area can get a little rowdy on game days so be prepared. I'm actually hoping to sublet my apartment for the summer, so if you're going to be in IC then and need a place or if you just want to see some pictures, feel free to PM me.
A lot of other law students live in the complexes off of Benton. I'm not sure what the rent is over there but most people seem to have roommates, while the law students in my building are mainly married couples / older singles without roommates. I signed the lease for my apartment never having seen the place at some point during the summer prior to my first year. This is a very college-centric town, so people generally lease a year in advance, but there are always openings if you're willing to look a bit harder.

Does anyone have anything to say about the bus system? I've heard good things, and I've also heard terrible things about parking near the law school both in scarcity and cost. Is it worth more to be close enough to walk or a nicer apartment in say Coralville and having to bus or drive in?
