How do we get the 3 credit option for a 2 credit class? Do I need to be emailing the professor now?

There's a form on the registrar's website you have to fill out and get signed:starz wrote:How do we get the 3 credit option for a 2 credit class? Do I need to be emailing the professor now?

You have until the add/drop period ends. Just get it signed before or after class one of the first 2 weeks. You don't need to contact them in advance about it. They're used to doing it.starz wrote:Do you know how early i should be contacting the professor about getting it signed?Flips88 wrote:There's a form on the registrar's website you have to fill out and get signed:starz wrote:How do we get the 3 credit option for a 2 credit class? Slightly related q - what if I wrote a 2 draft paper in a seminar w/adjunct professors, emailed them to ask them to sign my paperwork to confirm 2 draft paper, and they never replied? Do I now have to write another 2 draft paper??? That would be a little annoying.

Also side note: My unofficial transcript, at the bottom, had the draft requirement and journal participation stuff all messed up. I emailed Kagan and she replied that it was fixed. The writing draft stuff was fixed but my journal participation had disappeared. Do other rising 3Ls on journals currently have theirs listed at the bottom of their unofficial transcript? And does it specify ed board position or just general participation?

Anyone on here ever do an intensive semester practicum? Yay or nay? I'm thinking about trying to set one up for an AUSA internship maybe this coming spring semester...haven't heard from anyone that has done the full-time gig though during school

I didnt do intensive but the NDIL USAO had a hard enough time coming up with meaningful work for the 16 hr a week practicum so I imagine you might be twiddling thumbs a lot doing the intensive. Could probably sit in and observe a lot of cool stuff though.suzige wrote:Anyone on here ever do an intensive semester practicum? Yay or nay? The answer to this question will very greatly based on the type of person you are. A sounds absolutely horrible to me while B, though with less experienced staff, also is lacking the huge egos of A's professors….had I had the A lineup, I'm not sure I could have finished first semester. In the end though, you just need to learn the material and rock the exams -- there is some concern that grades of "A-" or above in section A will require some serious praise for the ego driven members of the staff -- you'll quickly figure those outdetlefschrempf1 wrote:A, because dat Redish + Lupo combo. Re: Northwestern 1L/2L/3L/Grads Taking Questions and Challenges
Thoughts on doing a clinic as a 2L? I worked for the Environmental Advocacy Center over the summer and loved it, already signed up for Prof. Loeb's energy law class, but I'm thinking about dropping Admin Law from my current schedule if I can get the clinic in round 2. My current classes are:
1st Amendment (Kitrosser)
Administrative Law (Fischman)
Energy Law & Policy (Loeb)
Strategy of Litigation (Salpeter)
Trusts & Estates (Lindgren)
Also, any other feedback on this schedule would be great. I kinda have no idea what I'm doing, and OCI has consumed 99% of my attention lately. I know I probably should have bid BA round 1, but if I'm reading CAESAR correctly there's no real chance of getting in via round 2... Next semester it is. I was thinking that I would also take care of the writing requirement next semester, and save the perspective elective and legal ethics for 3LOL - is that a reasonable plan, or am I screwing myself over by not taking care of some of those requirements this semester?
edit: may be worth mentioning that I have plenty of points left - over 2500.

Yes. But it only works when class is actually in session, so you're on your own for summer and Christmas break. ( You can load the card with cash credit and use the same card during that time.)whereskyle wrote:Incoming 1L here. Do we get free ventra for all 3 years of ls?

To the school's credit, 2Ls have their UPasses loaded for OCI this year.rinkrat19 wrote:Yes. But it only works when class is actually in session, so you're on your own for summer and Christmas break. Seriously...? It would've been nice to have them tell us this before I bought a monthly pass earlier this month (unless they did email me and I just disregarded it, then womp womp).GoCats56 wrote:To the school's credit, 2Ls have their UPasses loaded for OCI this year.rinkrat19 wrote:Yes. What really? Did they inform us of this and I missed it? Also does UPass=ventra or is there some other pass thing I don't know about?GoCats56 wrote:To the school's credit, 2Ls have their UPasses loaded for OCI this year.rinkrat19 wrote:Yes. Edit: checking my Ventra account I have definitely paid for the bus all last week

Thanks! Also, I was surprised to learn that loan funds will not be processed until the 1st day of class. I am coming off an americorps year, and I was planning to use loan funds to purchase a laptop. I am without one presently. Is it at all possible for me to navigate orientation and the first week of school successfully without a laptop?rinkrat19 wrote:Yes. Re: Northwestern 1L/2L/3L/Grads Taking Questions and Challenges
I don't know what this year's cards will look like, but ours say upass and behave exactly like a ventra. I have both and they both show up on my ventra account online. I can load both with cash. I think it doesn't allow me to set my upass to auto reload from a credit card like I can the ventra card, but that's the only difference (besides the upass having the free unlimited subscription during school). If there's cash loaded on the upass, it only uses it when the subscription isn't active.Micdiddy wrote:What really? Did they inform us of this and I missed it? Well, I'll try using my Ventra on the way to school today and when it says insufficient funds GoCat will be to blame for the minor embarrassment I will feel.
Edit: and embarrassed.
