Do you send them an email? I had a request that didn't really fit their form so I just emailed them, and they said they added it to my application.kitkat288 wrote:I am still confused about housing- I want to live with law students and have the cheapest possible rent- what should I do?

Hi All,
For all of you taking out graduate plus loans: you should check out this infographic by sallie mae. Really leaning towards picking that option now (I am going the biglaw route).

Thoughts? Advantages/disadvantages?

When do we have to fill out the MPN for federal loans? This loan request form is confusing.

It isn't clear that this loan would be eligible for PAYE or IBR. If it isn't you would limit your repayment options and probably any PSLF forgiveness.Explore federal loans and compare to ensure you understand the terms and features. Smart Option Student Loans that have variable rates can go up after consummation. Federal student loans are required by law to provide a range of flexible repayment options, including, but not limited to, income-based repayment and income-contingent repayment plans, and loan forgiveness and deferment benefits, which other student loans are not required to provide. Federal loans generally have origination fees, but are available to students regardless of income.

Has anyone turned an HYS acceptance into more money from Columbia? If so, will you shoot me a pm?

I would like to take this time to point out that the CLS logo on my water bottle is wearing off. I am literally watching my prestige disappear.

Columbia is not great with negotiations, I believe. They pretty much have their offer and don't really go further with it. I didn't have HYS, however. But some have tried to negotiate with Ruby from UChi, and CLS wouldn't bite.nothingtosee wrote:Has anyone turned an HYS acceptance into more money from Columbia? If so, will you shoot me a pm?

I feel pretty much the same way. I might revise my options next year.EquallyWrong wrote:i hate finance so, so much. going to go with the simplest option for selling myself into indentured servitude.

In two days. Although I called and talked to the FA office and they said that they would grant people a few days after the deadline just in case.francesfarmer wrote:When do we have to fill out the MPN for federal loans? This loan request form is confusing.

It took her about a week and a half to get back to me, but she added my comments to my application and was very helpful. From everything I've read and been told, she is insanely helpful and will go out of her way for law students in all things housing.kitkat288 wrote:I hadn't... Ill do that. So all we need to do is sign the MPN and then write how much we need in loans for the law school loan request form right? Am I missing something? Because it seems really simple but if other people are having trouble with it or find it confusing I feel like I really must be missing something and I don't want to fuck up.

Also, I don't see Columbia Law School listed, only Columbia University in the City of New York. Is this right?moopness wrote:So all we need to do is sign the MPN and then write how much we need in loans for the law school loan request form right? Am I missing something?
