I'm not doing the exact same search (I just need a studio or 1BR), but from what I've seen, you should look for rooms in Porter Sq or Davis Sq. Both neighborhoods would make walking to HLS easy, although Davis Sq is a bit further out. Here's what craigslist is showing. (LinkRemoved) Looks like there are units for $2600-2800.rendlelaw wrote:Alright, I've read this thread on and off, and I'm sure a similar question is not too far behind, but I'm a special snowflake and want to ask again.
I'm coming in with a wifey and two kiddos, probably three before too long (They keep showing up on the doorstep). I've got about 3k a month to spend on housing and utilities. Other than HUH, which we are certainly considering, what are some good options? I hate traffic and we would love some yard if possible. I realize those two things work against each other, so I know there's some compromise required somewhere. We probably need at least three bedrooms.
Anybody else been doing similar searches? Have any luck? Parent high-five?

I really want to end up at H in the fall, but debt is making me question what to do. I was wondering how much you all thought HLS was worth over other schools (like CCN, other top 14s), 10k? 50k? 100k? 200k? Obviously this is pretty subjective.

Best to ask some people who are currently there or have graduated from there. I personally would cut it off at 75K, but I am a 0L. But I cannot in anyway say that it's worth 125-200k over UChi. That said, if I were in your shoes, with some exception to perhaps Yale, I would have deposited at UChi a while ago.politics89 wrote:I really want to end up at H in the fall, but debt is making me question what to do. Hey guys, I'ma be flying into Boston just before noon on Friday. If anyone wanted to grab a beer or explore Boston together the day before ASW kicks off, feel free to PM me! Otherwise I"ll just stay bored and lonely. And cold, probably.

I asked the schools that gave me big $ to connect me with people that chose to go there over H, and they delivered in a big way. It absolutely changed my line of thinking on this decision.politics89 wrote:I really want to end up at H in the fall, but debt is making me question what to do. I guess since I've never known a life without substantial debt, I'm just more comfortable with it than others. Also I don't have big money at a school in the T14 (although UT came through for me), so there's that.

I am very close...it's down to 3, but one is definitely emerging as the clear choice. Then again, there could be a last minute, emotions-based switch to either of the other 2. Should definitely know by this time next week!t-14orbust wrote:soo..have you decided yet?lastsamurai wrote:I asked the schools that gave me big $ to connect me with people that chose to go there over H, and they delivered in a big way. Yeah I'm interested too. For me it seems like the Harvard kids always seem to pretty openly wonder if they made the right decision and the other-places kids always seem to feel like they know they did. Talk to people ten years out and their statements are only stronger. Of course whether or not everyone's telling the truth is hard to know, because "I regret not going to the absolute best school I could" is more the sort of thing you tell your spouse than strangers.

Re: Harvard Class of 2017
This is interesting, because I've had almost the polar opposite experience. I had really good scholarship offers from a couple other T14 schools, and as I talked to people who'd made similar decisions and ended up not going to HLS, they almost always said that they still wonder whether or not they made the right decision. People that went to HLS, on the other hand, UNIVERSALLY said that they felt like they made the right choice for them. That goes for current students, and people who've been out of law school for 20 years.hdunlop wrote:Yeah I'm interested too. End of the day, though, it's obviously a very personal decision and there really isn't a wrong answer. For me, spending a weekend in Boston made it very clear that it was a great fit for me and was where I wanted to be.

Considering how tuition has skyrocketed in the past few years alone, I doubt that financial considerations played nearly as big of a role for the above.and people who've been out of law school for 20 years.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
