Checking in! Got the call in the middle of GULC ASW, very wonderful. Figured I'd definitely wind up on the waitlist here, but glad to have made the cut.

In ED as of yesterday! Looking forward to meeting everyone at ASW.
Is there one complex / area where most law students live or do people spread out? Trying to be in the mix!

Congrats to all the new admits!
I find it so bizarre that I can't find a calendar anywhere...
Also, the portfolio has a map with popular buildings marked out on it, very useful for finding an apartment.
I'm leaning to 2400 chestnut too, I hope it's not impossible to get into.
Got the portfolio, no info on start date in it =(ohpobrecito wrote:Bumping this.tigersaresexy wrote:Can someone who's got their portfolio tell me what date orientation/classes start?
I can't find a 2014-2015 academic calendar anywhere, but I imagine they included one in the info packet.
Also, what are you guys thinking for housing? Park Towne Place and 2400 Chestnut seem like the cheapest options. Any others?

How long does it take to receive the admit package (sorry if this is the umpteenth time this has been asked). Is there anyway to access admitted students page before it comes?

ED1 acceptances were sent out on December 12th and the portfolios were mailed out on the 7th of January. I imagine the turnaround time for RD/ED2 is much quicker.UserNameHere wrote:How long does it take to receive the admit package (sorry if this is the umpteenth time this has been asked). A day or two after you get the call though, you should get an email with the admitted student website login information, so you don't have to wait until it gets to you.

Hmmm, got nothing. I didn't get to talk to them unfortunately. Had to let it go through to VM. But I did email them, and if nothing gets to me by Monday I'll give them a call. Thanks OP.tigersaresexy wrote:ED1 acceptances were sent out on December 12th and the portfolios were mailed out on the 7th of January. My acceptance letter actually just arrived (dated 12/24/2013). It was pretty crumpled and torn and put in a special USPS envelope that said the letter had been damaged in transit. I suspect it may have gotten lost for a few weeks, who knows. Glad UPenn called otherwise I wouldn't have known lol.

Anyone know the policy on deferring enrollment for a year if admitted ED? Just wondering if it's any different b/t ED and RD, or if there are any restrictions if admitted ED.

Checking in! Long-time lurker! I got in ED2.
Quick question - does any financial aid offer come with the portfolio that is mailed to us? I'm speaking in terms of merit aid (though considering I'm ED2... lol). Or is the portfolio general information similar to what's on the Admitted students website?
And to confirm our seat, we need to fill out that online form, submit a tuition deposit, and that's it? Or do we also do the Dean's certification and final degree transcript (as noted in the status checker requirements box)? We send that to the admissions office directly?

Couldn't be happier, see you all at ASW
Where do you get the sign on info for the accepted students site?

Feeling great!
By the way - I just got an answer to my questions.
To secure a seat, it's the online commitment to matriculate form and the tuition deposit.
For enrollment, they will send more details over the summer on submitting the final degree transcript and Dean's certification - due early August.

Same here. Is anyone considering living in the graduate housing? I don't know much about it, but it seems convenient.hahazby wrote:Looking for housing and checking out everything at Penn and Phillyohpobrecito wrote:So how's everyone feeling these days?

Re: UPenn Class of 2017
Penn's on campus housing, Sansom Place, is definitely convenient, and some people are reasonably happy with it. I was personally unimpressed when I visited. Dim hallway lighting, just seemed like a miserable atmosphere.lawyerchick wrote:Same here. Is anyone considering living in the graduate housing? Sansom Place is pretty pricey. For $1500 a month, you could get a room in a luxury high rise near campus like the Radian or 2400 Chestnut which are much nicer.

If you were looking at the lower tier of rooms, at over $800 a month, you can get a decent studio near campus - you can check out craigslist or Penn's off campus housing search.

Check out the Penn Students taking questions thread, there's a bunch more information in there. Also - wait until ASW - I'm sure the welcome committee will be very helpful and informative regarding housing.
