OSCAR Posting Re-Updating as Available

Post by brassmonkey7 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:48 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows if it really means that a position on OSCAR is filled, when a judge with an available clerkship as of a prior date, updates again at a later date, no new information appears in the judge's profile, and the clerkships continues to be listed as available.

Different chambers do things differently, but an updated notice of the position without any substantive changes usually means that they are actively going through resumes, bringing alums in to interview, but have not found the right fit. Putting it back at the top usually entices candidates who are currently searching during that time period especially if the original post was several months ago. If you have some working knowledge of the temperaments of judges in a given district you can get some confirmation of their temperament if they keep updating the post several times without finding the right candidate.
