Figured we might as well start one of these. Anyone planning a trip in the near future?

Nice. I'm planning on going November 13-14th. I want to tour the school on the 13th and then roll around Durham on the 14th, maybe check out a golf course. Let you know if there's anything I should take a look at, ie bars.

Durham has a fantastic craft beer scene. Triangle (which is only open on Saturdays), Fullsteam, Sam's Quik Shop, and Mystery nearby in Hillsborough. Overall Durham is pretty rad.
I just put in my application to Duke and I'll definitely visit to spend some more time in the town if nothing else.

I just got back from visiting Saturday-Monday. I took a self-guided tour of the law school while I was there also, which is modern compared to the rest of the campus buildings. I went downtown each night and checked out the bars/restaurants. Tyler's Tap Room is a great stop for beer lovers. It's in a nice area which is right by the Durham Bulls park. I missed out on the Triangle Brewery tour which I regret. Overall the campus and downtown areas were pretty low key. There's a strip on W. Main Street in downtown which has more than a handful of bars/restaurants which are all within a short walk of each other. I am from a UG with 50K+ students which is right near a major city so the campus feel and downtown area isn't what I am used to, but I loved it nonetheless.

Someone other than me - because I'm both unmotivated to do it and busy with finals - should start a Duke Law 2016 Facebook group.
In other news, I'm very excited about visiting Durham at some point in the early Spring.

And... (maybe) because it will "out" you! But, I'm already "out"ed, in quite a few ways, so I don't mind.

Still not sure I'll go - depends on scholarships and what else comes along - but I'm SUPER EXCITED for the opportunity to get to know you all over three years in Durham.

Just got my acceptance email! Duke's one of my top choices provided I get a decent scholarship and I can't wait to visit during ASW! Anyone else going down then?

I already went and visited but am considering heading up again for ASW. When is it exactly?

I got in off PT in early Novemeber, so it might have been quicker for me, but about a week. Fin aid email basically just tells you to fill out merit/need app and need access online. No offers in the packet. Admissions packet is one of the nicest in the t14. Comes with a lanyard and a stupid notepad.

The campus is absolutely gorgeous in the spring.

Hey guys, out of curiosity, how long did it take for any of you to receive your financial aid offer? I submitted the required forms/Need Access/etc. on Jan. 10, am hoping to find out soon.

Good to know, thanks, both of you. I'll let you know if I hear anything, I may try calling in sometime today to get a rough estimate of when that's coming back (I was originally told 2-3 weeks after submission).

Yeah, pretty sure. That's all I did.
Edit: So I called in, she checked that my forms had been received, and said I should get an offer sometime within the next 2-3 weeks if not sooner. A committee is reviewing the financial aid forms in the order that they came in, and once they have actually gotten around to looking at your file, a decision should be mailed (apparently not email... although I didn't get clear clarification on that) 1-2 days later in most cases.
She was nice and helpful, but I don't know how long it takes this committee to move through each financial aid application. Still no idea when this'll come but I hope it happens sooner rather than later, as I need to decide if this is still an option quickly. No idea if I should attend the admitted students' weekend...

Is anyone going to the NY reception? I'm in Boston, but I might swing down for that. Durham is a bit far for me to visit just now.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
