Well it really depends what you like to do. As far as bars, I would avoid Bullwinkle's unless you like undergrads and long lines. A lot of us tend to go to Midtown - Taproom, Waterworks, Spaceport, Leon Pub or sometimes just go to 101 as it is a short walk from the law school (perfect for a drink or two after an exam).

Honestly, I've never felt unsafe in Tallahassee. Obviously there are areas you should as with any city but overall it is a safe place if you are smart and aware of your surroundings and what not. I live on the East side of town near Blairstone and Park. It is quiet and everything is very close with school only about an 8-10 minute drive away. It seems most law students either live in the apartments right next to the school, midtown area, or the east side of town.

I'll be starting in the fall and need advice on laptops? I'm getting a Mac but read that there's limited software support. Is that limited in the sense that it can't work with Mountain Lion, the forthcoming OS, or in the sense that current standards aren't fully supported? Any advice here is welcome!

I have a macbook pro and used it all last year. Never had any problem and basically the only thing you need to run is Exam 4 which runs on Lion and like three of the more recents operating systems. I'm not sure if they'll update it by the time December exams come around but I'd say more than likely they will. Unless there is a specific program you want to use for notes then I'd say a mac is fine. Also, probably about 50% of class of 2014 used Macs from what I saw.
