Agency Partnership or Derivatives

Post by BrooklynLaw16 » Tue Jan 20, 2015 8:43 pm

What would be more valuable to prepare for a biglaw SA, a class on agency partnership, or a class on derivatives?

(1) Don't take classes to prepare for an SA. You don't need to know anything as a summer (or really, as a junior associate); you just need to work hard, have a good attitude, and use good judgment.

(2) If you want to take classes that will prepare you for practice, I can tell you that agency and partnership seem to come up all the time in commercial litigation. I don't think derivatives would be very useful unless you are in a transactional practice that does a lot of derivatives work.
