3L Class Selection (prepping for BigFed)

Postby Worker and Parasite » Tue Jan 06, 2015 6:23 pm

3L, choosing my Spring classes. Headed to BigFed (non-financial, office of general counsel w/ an agency) next year.

I've already taken Admin Law and all the classes that deal with the substantive work of the agency's regulation available at my school. I need to take the minimum units and the only classes available are bar classes or transactional biz classes. So my options are:

1. Federal Courts. (But would this be helpful at an agency level? I will be litigating in front of admin courts but standing, ripeness, etc were handled in my Admin Law class.)

2. Just take some bar classes (Trusts, Remedies, Business Associations).

3. Chill the fuck out for Christs sake and take the bare minimum of classes. Jesus christ

Yes, you should take federal courts. It's a hard class, but it's honestly the most useful class I took in law school and will be invaluable if you are litigating on behalf of an agency.

Take Fed Courts. You won't ever be litigating in Fed court on behalf of the agency--the DOJ will--but OGC at Agency's works with the DOJ when defending agency action. Plus, Fed Courts is just a class everyone should try to take, if only because you may eventually want to lateral someday to the DOJ and you'll want some lit coursework.

Have you taken Corporations? I think it's a class everyone should take regardless of their career plans.
