Talk to you dad about Boomer Scum.brotherdarkness wrote:That's one of the fears. Also, my parents are big on charity and, because my father grew up in poverty and became a doctor, I suspect he'd rather give most of his money away at death to ensure I don't get complacent or whatever.Flips88 wrote:Before the libruls get their greedy death taxing hands on it, of course.Tom Joad wrote:Take the inheritance, bro. I'm not sure how to make a poll on this site, otherwise I would have.hichvichwoh wrote:this would probably work better with a poll, if you specifically want to know how much debt TLSers are graduating with. Otherwise you'll find better results just googling

No. I have an internship now, not sure if it will end up in a job offer or not. Firm has 55 attorneys. I'm not the best student. I did okay first year, but had a pretty bad last 2L semester. A lot of the attorneys there went to t2 and TTT schools. Most no law review/journal/moot court.california2013 wrote:ap1987 wrote:Just curious to see how much debt (if any) other fellow law students are anticipating graduating with?
I go to a T2 in NYC, I will graduate with roughly $80,000 (20,000 undergrad, 60,000 law school).
Do you have job Line up ?

Probably like 100k. I'm kinda surprised I'm one of the higher numbers. Don't most ppl on this site go to T14s? Or does everyone just have rich parents? I got a huge scholarship too.

Not counting any interest that has appreciated while in school, about $160,000. With interest, I'm estimating $180,000, at least.

I took t14 basically at sticker. At this point I actually have no idea what my total debt will be. My school has a solid public interest repayment plan and thats how I'll manage them.Lacepiece23 wrote:Probably like 100k. I'm kinda surprised I'm one of the higher numbers. Re: How much debt are you going to graduate with?
Decided not to go T14 at sticker.
Took the gamble and went T2 on a full scholly.
Will graduate with about $75k (housing & misc costs while living a comfortable existence in NYC racks up quick fast).
Heading to a V15 after graduation.

45k for me. Hoping to do public interest and have at around half of this forgiven in 10 years. I signed up for the gradual payback plan-- I'm going to pay back like 21 dollars a month in the beginning.

For any public school it covers everything, all tuiton and fees, no matter the cost. In addition you get roughly $600 a semester for books and a monthly living stipend that is dependent on your zip code, mine is $1,609 a month. All of this is also tax free.anon919 wrote:that's awesome. congrats!paul554 wrote:-40k, I'll actually profit from going to law school. Oh GI Bill how I adore thee.

To get 100% I think it is three years. However, most contracts are for four years.
Also, if you do undergrad while you are active they give you funding for that so you don't have to use your GI Bill.
I did my undergrad while being on active duty. I had almost my entire GI Bill when I started LS.

Absolutely!
My debt will be $46,406.58 when done. Edit: I forgot to mention this is without interest, so probably more like $50k. All my loans are Stafford as well. The interest rate isn't bad.
GI Bill covers my in state tuition, plus $1300 a month (during the school year) for living expenses, and $1000 a year for books.
I live quite well, I could probably live off the GI Bill alone with no loans. But ... I like living well with no budget!
