BarBri B.E.A.T.

Post by somewhatwayward » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:14 pm

I got an email from BarBri about these early bar prep classes they are offering throughout this semester. They are two and a half hour lectures on about ten Sundays. What is the deal with these? Has anyone gone and, if so, were they worthwhile? I am thinking maybe it is worth going for the materials although I doubt I will remember anything I learned in Feb. six months later.

Apparently it doesn't cost more but you have to have paid them $1500 of the course price. I assume my firm would pay that or reimburse me.

I am a good test taker but neurotic about the bar of course. I feel like I *should* do this. What do you guys think?

A two hour lecture on torts six months before the bar exam probably won't help you all that much.

Fixed.

BarBRI spends about 90% of its time on fear-mongering and marketing and about 10% of its time on providing quality content. Do not let them get inside your head, ESPECIALLY this far before the bar.

Yeah, I got that e-mail and was like HA! no thanks. If I can't pass the bar with BARBRI's regular program, we've got bigger problems.

if it's free and there's food I'd go, pick up lunch and the handout, and leave. I found I wanted a few more practice questions and essays by gameday, if they are in this program, maybe it's worth getting the handout. If it's stuff that is already in the regular program anyway, forget it.

dont waste your time. Just start on the first day the course starts. Having taken barbri and passed the bar, dont do anything above and beyond what is absolutely necessary to pass (i.e., do the lectures and practice tests when theyre assigned).
