Commerce Clause

Post by r973 » Wed Oct 27, 2010 7:51 pm

I am a 3L so I have not taken Constitutional Law in 2 years and was wondering if anyone who is studying it now knows of the most recent Supreme Court cases that discuss the reach of the Commerce Clause. The most recent cases I know of are United States v. Lopez from 1995 and United States v. Morrison from 2000. Have there been any other cases in the Supreme Court since 2000?

Thanks.

Gonzalez v. Raich. Talked about comprehensive regulatory schemes for economic intrastate conduct -- in this case, the drug trade.

Did you get Printz v. United States? Holding that the provisional requirements of the Brady Act which forced local law enforcement officials to run background checks on potential firearm purchasers violated the Tenth Amendment because Congress may not compel state officers to enforce a federal regulatory program?

Those are the biggies we learned, along with Lopez and Morrison.
