Oh well, soon enough I suppose :|

My lease ends May 16 so it was either move back in with my parents or move to Minneapolis. I'd have to quit my job either way though.

I did standing room only tickets last season for $12. The new stadium is great. I ended up just posting up in left field by the bar, which turned out to be a great spot. There were ticket holders with seats actually standing behind me.

Standing room only is pretty nice, they have ledges for you and whatnot. If you want to sit, the cheapest seats are $14, so still not too bad. It's worth the money.. Target Field is awesome, even for a NL fan.

Although not relevant to Minnesota, this thread reminds me of a story that ocurred in another city during the NFL season. The local NFL franchise was not doing well so on game day a man parked at a restaurant near the playing field & placed his two game tickets on his windshield under the wiper blades. When he returned, there were four tickets.

Yeah, new stadiums typically mean higher ticket prices. I'm in Atlanta now and tickets are incredibly cheap for Braves games.

Its $90. You can buy the tickets now and pick them up when you get to UMN once you have your ID. It will automatically assign you a section, row, seat. You can buy one extra ticket for a non-UMN student, but I think that's like an additional $300 or something. I have to leave to go to class, but when I get back I'll try to find and post the link to the site where you can buy the tickets.

Here is the site: https://www.mygophersports.com/Online/d ... DE21786871

It's $91 for students and $282 for a non-student.

Oh thank god it's season tickets. For a bit I thought you all were just talking about singles. For a bit, I thought I wouldn't be attending any Gopher games.

Edit - thanks for the link. Called the ticket office, looks like football is first come-first served for seats for students get to the game and to get the tickets you just need a student number and payment - much easier than I was expecting. They also said that the student tickets last year didnt sell out so that they had to sell some of the student-allocated tickets to the general public. Maybe hockey tickets will be the tough ones to get!

Are you guys going to bring that big laptop to class everyday? I'm thinking of sticking with my laptop I have now and just bring the big one for exams. Anyone else doing the same?

I'm going to try to bring it to start, but I may end up just bringing my iPad and actual paper if the heft becomes annoying. I dragged around a similar sized laptop to class for most of my undergrad though and that wasn't too bad. The textbooks were smaller though.

At ASW, it looked like most of the 2Ls brought their laptop to class.

FYI the "assigned row and section" really just means general admission to the student section.

You won't have any problem getting tickets either, attendance was way way way down for students relative to the year before.

It's way better than I expected. We're getting a good discount, that's for sure. The i5 chip uses the new sandybridge architecture, so it's really efficient and can switch to using just one processor at over 3 Ghz if you're using a heavy application that isn't optimized for dual-core. That's also a really good resolution on the screen. The basic T420 has 1366X768.

Edit: Yeah they ordered several upgrades from the base T420. Higher resolution, faster processor, more ram, and a better version of Windows 7. Enterprise isn't available to the general consumer, but it's closest analogue is Windows 7 Ultimate. Now I just wish I could get it before orientation so as to start getting used to it!

Interesting… I just received an email from UMN that includes specs for our laptop. Unfortunately, they provide information on a T410, rather than a T420. The downgrades include a slower processor and a more basic version of Windows 7. What’s the deal?

Actually they speed was the same in the errant email. The model number of the chip was wrong though. Anyway, Rachel has confirmed that the T420 specs are the correct ones.
