We can't apply for on-campus housing until April 4th right?

Hey guys, do you know if the HLS Class of 2014 facebook group is just for people who have already committed to going, or can anyone join after being admitted? Thanks.

Re: Harvard Law 2014
This is my understanding since the website says the application won't be open to first-years before then. And now a question of my own...for someone who plans on deferring, I shouldn't apply for housing right? Is it safe to assume that HLS will grant my request to defer and work for a year to cushion against debt?kak5n wrote:We can't apply for on-campus housing until April 4th right?
I imagine it's for those who have been admitted who are either definitely attending or strongly leaning towards attending. I'm sure almost everyone there has options elsewhere as well and plan to visit during ASW to make their final decisions. You can always leave the group if you don't end up attending. Since 80% sure I'll be deferring, I should probably leave it too at some point...but it's just good to see what activities are going on.ImpatientlyWaiting wrote:Hey guys, do you know if the HLS Class of 2014 facebook group is just for people who have already committed to going, or can anyone join after being admitted? Are you checking out the HRES?mightyaphrodite wrote:unc0mm0n1 wrote:
I agree it's so many things to look at. I think a lot of people are doing the grad housing thing. I'll be looking for a place off campus though. I've actually circled some that current students have told me about and will be visiting during ASW. I think that asking current students might be a good way to go. I know HLS students have a couple of threads on here you might want to check them out and they can give you specific details about places. Like since I'm bringing my car I wanted something with parking garage and a 1L told me about a really nice apartment that had many of the things I was looking for plus a parking garage. Speaking of parking I'm wondering if there is good parking at or around the school.
There's a parking lot attached to the school underneath the new building. It's crazy expensive. If you plan to live off campus, you will be walking, taking public transportation, or taking the Harvard shuttle. Parking at or near campus will either cost you a fortune OR if street parking, will be almost non-existent.

Does anyone know where we should have our official transcripts sent? Do they just go to the standard Admissions Office mailing address?

Hmm, I applied around February 20th or so. I don't remember the exact date.unc0mm0n1 wrote:I did as well. how long did it take to get yours?sarahh wrote:I just got mine. Not sure if it only happens once you mail in the deposit but does everyone get the email from Dean Minow? She just congratulated me on my choice it was only a few sentences but I thought it was a really nice touch. Can't wait for school to start .

I got the same email, but I haven't yet submitted my deposit. I was a bit confused about that.

Any LSU undergrads get in?
HLS is lonely with only 3 LSU alums here.

Posted my question in the wrong forum:
How long was turnaround time for the FinAid package -- from the time all documents were marked as received to the time you received the award?
Another poster said ~2 weeks.... HLS SFS said ~10 business days. Is that about right?

I just visited on Monday (I had to make a decision really quick about money from NYU). I was really impressed, and I'm 95% sure I'll be there in the fall! How do I get on this fabled facebook group?

Hey! I'm a lurker on the forums, but I'm officially debuting here. What are people thinking in terms of dorm/HRES apartment/private apartment?

It is official - I just sent in my deposit! I am doing a private apartment. I don't have a choice because I have two cats. HRES only allows one. (I called, and they said no exceptions can be made.)

Is Gropius as cheap as it gets - including nearby, off-campus options?

Roommate is leaving so I need a new one in a two bed two bath condo right across the street from the law school (literally). In unit laundry, full kitchen, living room, balcony. 2400 month/2.
I will be a 3L next school year.
PM if interested.

Look on Craigslist - you would probably need a roommate off-campus if you want cheap.pix wrote:Is Gropius as cheap as it gets - including nearby, off-campus options?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
