So I feel a little obnoxious starting this so early, but what can I say? I'm excited! I know there's at least one other deferral lurking around these parts...
Anyways good luck to all applying this year. Don't obsess over that YLS twitter too much

Hi Booby87.
Hearing about everybody starting their classes and settling in is really making me kick myself for deferring. It sounds like great fun. But I’ll get my revenge once the New Haven winter sets in and everybody else is working through
Erie while I’m sitting on a warm beach somewhere reading trashy fiction.
Also, I’m happy to read/edit a couple of 250 word essays for aspiring Yalies. If you’ve got one that’s fairly polished feel free to PM me. TLS was a great help for me while I was applying last year and I’m happy to return the favor a little bit.

Might as well join in too! Having deferred twice now, I definitely feel the pain of not going. Then again, think of how much more wisdom we'll have as 1Ls?!
More importantly, I'm trying to figure out if I know you guys already...?

Assuming we haven't met in some prior life circumstance. Having been to two straight ASWs, I'm consistently surprised how many people I know from prior things who show up at YLS.

As a rising 2L, I bid you welcome! I hope you guys will actually join us this time instead of skipping another year. It would be cool to meet y'all before I graduate in 2012.
I'm sooooo glad my OCI and CB cycle is complete and will decide which of the multiple offers to accept by the end of this week to get it all behind me. Classes, reading groups, clinics, law journal, and intramural sports take enough of my time as it is!

Deferred twice? I think I've figured out who you are

. If I'm correct then we've met once on either coast - at brunch and at the ASW. . .

Congrats on the offers! But the more important topic: Sports! Does YLS have a baseball/softball/kickball team?

There are all sorts of IMs offered: YLS recently won the fall grad/professional school softball league, and soccer is also pretty popular. I'm sure there are others, but those are the two most popular, I think. Lots of people play pickup basketball pretty regularly at the Payne Whitney, and there's the annual YLS vs. HLS basketball game during Harvard-Yale weekend...I'll brag a bit and note that we won 74-56 this year (
http://www.law.yale.edu/news/12524.htm).
Usually, some student(s) will just organically decide to organize a given sport's IM effort on behalf of the law school; they'll send an email to 'The Wall' (the all-school list-serve) asking for sign-ups.

+1, assuming things work out with my SO. If not, that'll free up a seat for someone probably more deserving than I am. I'll definitely be at ASW in any case. Can't wait to meet everyone!

I think that other one isn't actually people who are definitely attending YLS, but people who got admitted (thus it's in a forum of
TLS Acceptances, Denials and Waitlists). This thread's in the right place - with all other
TLS Class of 2014 threads.

Where is everyone? I was looking around the internet and found TLS's YLS 2011 thread which really puts our year to shame...

Just booked airfare for ASW. I actually got the best deal by flying into LaGuardia and taking the MTA Metro-North rail to New Haven.
I look forward to meeting everyone in person, and I sure hope I'll be able to join you all in the fall!

Hey folks, has anyone had success applying for need-based travel assistance? If so, what was the turnaround time between when you sent in the application and when you heard back? Trying to figure out if I can go before prices get too high! Thanks.

You can find a link to a .pdf of the admit binder via the facebook page.
IIRC, ASW is ~ April 14
