Stats:
T2
Top 2% (GPA 3.95/4.0) (School only gives rank in 5% increments. The Rank Estimator says about top 2%)

Best of luck to you all!

App submitted 6/13 -> App under review 6/24

(went straight from submitted to under review, no "ready for review" or "app processing" intermediate stages)

LSAC Statement on Good Admissions practices http://www.lsac.org/docs/default-source ... oodadm.pdf

See page 3:
6.
After April 1, except under binding early decision plans, every applicant should be free to accept a new offer from a law school even though a scholarship has been accepted, a deposit has been paid, or a commitment has been made to another school. To provide applicants with an uncoerced choice among various law schools, no excessive nonrefundable deposit should be required solely to maintain a place in the class.

The application deadline last year was July 1. Decisions came out around July 10. This year the deadline was June 16 (today), so I don't know what to expect. However, I assume probably around the same time--second week of July.

Thanks, CounselorNebby! I just found this in another forum. It looks like you're right about the mid-July decision date:
Anonymous User wrote:This year the deadline to apply is two weeks earlier than in the past. I called to ask if they are planning to render decisions earlier this year (last year was July ~10 with a July 1 deadline) and they said no, they plan to render decisions within a month of June 16, to allow time for interviews.

App Submitted: 6/13 -> App Received 6/16 -> Status Checker Received 6/16
I have exactly the same stats, I submitted a few weeks ago. App still incomplete because they are waiting on the grades to arrive.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat, LawLschool101. My certification forms should have been mailed out last week, but I'm not sure when they'll arrive at HLS.

In last year's thread someone was admitted, and they never sent in certifications. Transferring is the epitome of a “numbers game.”

Edit: I sent JD Admissions an email asking them when we might hear back, and whether there will be skype interviews. I'll let you all know what they say.

HLS emailed me back.

1. There are no transfer Skype interviews.
2. We should hear back by mid-July. (Consistent with last year)

This is from an interview TLS did with the Assistant Dean of Admissions in 2010: "TLS: How realistic is a desire to transfer to HLS? About how many transfer applicants does Harvard accept each year? JR: Very realistic – in recent years we’ve accepted somewhere in the range of 40-50 transfers each year." http://www.top-law-schools.com/josh-rub ... rview.html.

God forbid not accepted to HLS. Which would you pick from the two(Duke & UVA) and why?

Personally, I would probably go with UVA. It's ranked higher and has better employment stats than Duke on LST. Also, from what I've heard, the students at UVA are [more collegial]/[less cutthroat] than the students at many other law schools. [Disclaimer: I have no idea what the atmosphere is like at Duke.] Finally, Charlottesville is a charming little town, and UVA's law library is gorgeous. That being said, I have no idea where you want to practice or what you want to do after law school.

I am thinking between Mass Tort Litigation, Med. Mal./Wrongful Death(contingency based cases), or Bankruptcy Chap. 11. Practicing I open to Va, FL, & NC.

Anyone else decided the area they want to focus on?

I would email them. They take about 6 hours to respond.

Is your UG unwiling to mail it? I always just attached them to my transcript request. Stating: "Please fill out and send w/ offical transcript."

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
