No callbacks

Post by InRemington » Sat Sep 21, 2013 8:23 am

Any other transfers hearing crickets for callbacks? Trans from TTTT to 40-50's school in Florida (FSU/FL)

Interviewed with a couple large firms off of pre-select (Fla Big law if there is such a thing)......and some smaller firms. I have a solid resume (10 years relevant work experience) and felt like the interviews went well....some I had great connections.

Heard 0, nothing, zilch, nada, cero - most not even a reply from my thank you's.

Anyone else same? Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Not sure what the general wisdom is on cold-emailing alums of your LS, but it worked for me. It may be a last (or later) resort deal, but it is something you should look into.

I think it is difficult being a transfer and competing against the students for jobs at your new school. All of my callbacks have been through mass-mail. I still have a few midlaw callbacks coming up, but haven't heard from the few big law firms that gave me a callback. Just keep hustling...something is out there for transfers. Please share if you do get and offer and I will as well.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But don't feel bad about not landing anything from OCI; most of the students at your school aren't going to get anything from OCI either (transfers or otherwise). T40-50s just don't place well in big law. And unfortunately, having a TTT/TTTT on your resume adds another question mark to your resume.

Hustling and networking are your best bet.

Went from TTTT to T1. Due to my transfer date, I wasn't given access to the OCI employers, and consequently the ability to bid and apply, until after the deadline for applying had passed. Nevertheless, I was granted a few interviews and no call-backs. Not sure if that's due to being a transfer or not, though.
