Applying after the semester ends, #9 at 25-30. Also applying to Chicago, NYU, and Penn. Possibly H and S if I can slip solidly into the top 5.
Congratulations on all your success, and best of luck!

Re: Columbia Waiting Thread 2013
So I understand that we need to submit the Dean Appraisal/Certification Form from our current law school and all all undergrad schools. Is the form that we're supposed to give to these schools the one that is on their website labeled "Dean's Appraisal(s) /Certification(s) (.PDF)" on the transfer application overview page? I thought it was kind of strange that on that form, it says that "the individual named above has been admitted and is planning to matriculate at Columbia Law School". Is this the form that we are to send to our schools even though we haven't been admitted yet?

It might say that because regular (i.e. 0L) applicants only need the dean cert after they are already admitted. They probably just used the same for both. Not sure though. You can always email them.Nick18 wrote:So I understand that we need to submit the Dean Appraisal/Certification Form from our current law school and all all undergrad schools. Re: Columbia Waiting Thread 2013
Anyone complete yet? According to their status checker, they are still waiting on my undergrad Dean's Cert. and my final law transcript, even though I sent them out and NYU has already received them. I was going to call them to confirm that they got them, but the recording says that they prefer email for these type of questions.

I went complete a few days ago. I am definitely going to be hating this status checker that never updates past "Complete."

Re: Columbia Waiting Thread 2013
It's too much to handle: LSAC frustrations, desperate Status Checker updates when I know no one is reviewing my app at 2:02 am Saturday, fake-out emails from Amazon telling me there's a new sale on Dockers, uncertainty about leaving scholarship money, OCI questions, and not wanting to discuss any of it with current classmates.
So, today I will stop being a spectator and join the community. Here's my Rookie card:
Current School 2013 USNWR: 40-45
Applying to: Columbia, NYU, GULC
GPA & Rank: 3.82/4.33, 9/2XX - Top 5%
Journal: Not yet released
Reason: Looking for a strong international program in a city conducive to building strong international relations (I'm interested in joining degrees with SIPA and would love to chat with anyone also interested in looking at post-transfer joint degrees)
As for my Columbia app, it is received as of Friday evening but is incomplete. I'm waiting on:
- second LOR
- official transcripts (which I had mailed directly)
- CAS report (which is weird, because Columbia clearly received my app from LSAC - but, this may be tied to the fact that my second LOR has not been processed by LSAC; any thoughts?)
- Dean's Certification (I hope my school isn't holding it hostage)
I will also chime in on the GULC and NYU threads. My heart is with Columbia. Good luck, everyone - sincerely.

Re: Columbia Waiting Thread 2013
So about 6 weeks ago I had my undergrad institution (about 30 mins. from Columbia) send out my dean's certification form to Columbia. I waited about two weeks, contacted Columbia via email and they told me that they never received it. So about 3 weeks ago, I had my undergrad institution send it again to Columbia, and Columbia told me that they still have yet to receive it. I called my undergrad school and they confirmed for me that they sent it out both times. Also, NYU got it about a week after it was sent it out. Anyone else having this kind of trouble? I am guessing that it just got lost in the mail twice, as unlikely as that seems. I guess I will just have my undergrad institution send out another copy, and I'll give them an addressed Express Mail envelope to send it out in with delivery/signature confirmation. I would even be willing to drive to my school, pick it up, and drive it over to the Office of Admissions myself haha. I just want to go complete!!

I just looked back and I got my acceptance around July 15th last year. As far as I know, this was the first batch. So it may be a bit before people start hearing.

Re: Columbia Waiting Thread 2013
I submitted my application on 6/27. Deans certification shoudl have been mailed a few weeks before that and transcripts shoudl be with the the CAS service. (instrustions say this is preferred). But neither the transcripts nor the dean cert show up on my status checker. Is it worth contacting Columbia at this point? Should I have the transcripts sent directly as well?

I had same issue a week ago and I called the offices. In fact, they had received all my papers but for some reason the status checker didn't change. I wouldn't sweat it. I assume they have all your stuff.
