Top 12% at a T4: What are my options?
Looking to transfer out west to California from the midwest. Assuming second semester grades I manage to keep my overall 1L GPA between the 3.7-3.5 range, what are my shots at schools out there? I will probably apply to T3's, but what are the cut-offs for T2? I'm pretty sure I already blew any chances I have at T1s there.
If anybody could shed some light on this or advise me I'd appreciate it. Thanks

In at all cali T2s, bump it up to 10% or greater for a shot at USC/UCLA.

I'd shoot for Davis but also apply to Hastings, Pep & Loyola

Terrible advice. First, he asked about Cali schools. Second, zero shot at EA GULC.beach_terror wrote:EA to Gtown if you haven't.

lol, right dude. Transferring to a T2 in California will definitely place better in California than a T14 degree /sarcasm. And crazier things have happened for transfer acceptances - the process isn't nearly as predictable as applying to law schools for first year admission. I've heard of similar stats breaking the T14 for transfers. Nice work being a tool though, bro.maf70 wrote:Terrible advice. First, he asked about Cali schools. Re: Top 12% at a T4: What are my options?
Top 12% at a T4 has limited options. Try to break into the top 10% or 5%.
Top 10% will have a decent shot at T1 schools like Davis and Hastings. Top 5% will give you an outside shot at the lower T14 schools. Top 1-3% from a T4 will give you a chance at most T14 schools other than HYS. If you remain at the 12% mark, you should apply to schools in the T14/T1/T2 range. The T2s will almost definitely take you, the T1s might and the lower T14 will almost definitely reject you.

I have to agree with beach. As long as you aren't cash strapped there's no harm in sending one their way. Just don't put all your eggs in that basket.beach_terror wrote:lol, right dude. Not trolling at all. Last year only people ranked #1 in their TTT or TTTT's got into EA GULC. He has absolutely zero chance. Top 12%? I would like to hear your anecdotal outside the Top 10% (from a TTTT) who made it into a T14 EA.beach_terror wrote:lol, right dude. Drop out.
And I love ya beach, but top 12% at a crappy TTTT isn't getting T14. Even most
T1s will be tough without top 10%. Transferring up that far is tough from a TTTT.

Tough doesn't mean impossible. I was saying it's worth an application is all.romothesavior wrote:Drop out.

Just anecdotally, how many people have won the lottery without buying a ticket? BTW, I wouldn't give him much more of a chance at EA than I would at winning the lottery.maf70 wrote:Not trolling at all. Last year only people ranked #1 in their TTT or TTTT's got into EA GULC. Unless OP is from CA, GULC would be a bad idea anyway. That is, assuming OP wants CA because they want to work in CA...

Nah bro. Nice try, though. But by all means continue to make arguments about a subjective viewpoint of costs and benefits.maf70 wrote:And you're still wrong.beach_terror wrote:Tough doesn't mean impossible. I was saying it's worth an application is all.romothesavior wrote:Drop out.

Yeah, I guess its possible that someone sticks his application into the wrong pile and he miraculously gets in. In that case, apply to Harvard too. You've got a shot.

Re: Top 12% at a T4: What are my options?
Should have done this with my LS apps. Thanks for not telling me. I'm done here though, this has been needlessly bumped way too many times. For whoever cares, my anecdotal evidence was a T3->T14 who was in the top 15% (no ranks between 10 and 15).romothesavior wrote:Yeah, I guess its possible that someone sticks his application into the wrong pile and he miraculously gets in.
