Re: Official 2010 Transfer Cycle Results Thread
I guess this thread has gotten a little off topic, but since I've just completed my transfer cycle, thought I'd post my results:
Accepted:Penn, Boalt, Columbia, UVA, UCLA
Rejected: UT, Harvard, Stanford
Applied then withdrew from: NYU, USC
Attending: Boalt
T30 west coast school, technically top 2/3% (though school won't break it down past 5% for ranking purposes), solid softs.
just glad it's over.

Congrats on an awesome cycle. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what it takes to be accepted as a transfer student to UT.easttowest wrote:I guess this thread has gotten a little off topic, but since I've just completed my transfer cycle, thought I'd post my results:

My cycle is finally over...here is my results
U of H Law Center: Ding
UT Austin: Ding
Texas Tech: In
Transfer from T-4 (TSU)
Top 12%/ Military and Decent Softs
Note: I thought I had a REAL chance at U of H; oh well...life goes on. I hear at least Tech is one of the best tier 3s...but only time will tell.

Is everybody from your school transferring? I don't know anyone else from BC who is, though I'm sure they exist.megaTTTron wrote:Snaps to everyone who got in so far. I have a good buddy who got into HLS today, t34 top 5% is all we know but probably number 1 in the class. Good luck everyone else.

Re: Official 2010 Transfer Cycle Results Thread
I spoke with the Admissions Coordinator at UT before applying. She made a special point to emphasize the importance of the geographic reason for an individual's application to UT. According to her, the Admissions Committee did not want to hear an applicant wanted to participate in a particular clinic, or was interested in a particular faculty member, or similar. Apparently there needs to be a specific reason for an applicant to need to be in Austin, not necessarily at UT.easttowest wrote:

If anyone is transferring to UVA, PM me, I have an apartment I'm trying to get out of the lease for and I'd be happy to set you up. It's two blocks from the law school.

Re: Official 2010 Transfer Cycle Results Thread
This is true, but it's important to note that there was no quota for transfers. Thus, transfers had to score above the numerical cutoff that was established by the rest of the rising 2L class at Stanford. It just so happened last year that 60% of transfers who tried out were able to do that.traydeuce wrote:I would note that a Stanford transfer posted here and said that of the 10 transfers who did the write-on, 6 made the Law Review. (5 didn't try.) So it may not be as competitive as you think.
