To clear up something I'm not clear on, if you aren't admitted ED, do you automatically go into rolling, or is there a chance you could be flat out rejected?

Unlike GULC EA, Chicago ED does reject people. Last year, the deferrals/dings ratio was around 50/50.traehekat wrote:To clear up something I'm not clear on, if you aren't admitted ED, do you automatically go into rolling, or is there a chance you could be flat out rejected?
The good news is that the wait is almost over. Calls/emails went out around 6 PM ET last year fwiw.

Same. On hold.
What's the success rate of ED'ers during RD who were held I wonder?

Nothing here. Waiting for my rejection since a lot of you who just got held have better numbers/go to better schools.
ETA: Was right. Rejected via e-mail. Oh well.

Really sorry to hear the bad news, guys
On the plus side, for those who still have yet to hear, Chicago just updated the transfer admitted students' website. I'm guessing that some people will be getting good news very soon.

Since I'm done with finals, and I have nothing better to do until the writing competition, I'll see if being put on hold is an indication of anything last year.
Sorry to those who were denied.

But from looking at past cycles, no one from my school/school range (T2) got accepted and I'm not in Chicago's region, so it's not like I'm particularly surprised. Just means I have to work harder at the rest of my apps and hope my grades don't fall off a cliff.
ETA: Congrats tycho-brahe!

Thanks everyone. So that it may help future transfers, my stats were Top 3% at a Big 10 school in the Iowa/Minn./Ill./Wisc./OSU/Ind. range.
Good luck to those on hold.

Although people have gotten in without a ranking in the past, I'm beginning to think my lack of official ranking was nevertheless a detriment. It really could only have helped to have "top 2%" on there. C'est la vie.

Re: Chicago ED 2011 Thread
for those who were held, did you all have an official rank or any cut off information?
all i had was a cutoff for top 12.5%. im kinda wondering if chicago is just trying to pin down exactly where my rank is, or if they are saying "look, we have an idea of where you are going to fall, and you aren't getting in based on that, so hopefully your grades improved this semester." if its the latter i may be in trouble ;x.
edit: well, actually either way im prolly in trouble lol. i really dont expect my grades to go up so, hopefully i still have some sort of shot.
also, congrats to tycho!

Re: Chicago ED 2011 Thread
Well, after perusing last year's thread, I couldn't really see a difference between ED/RD chances. It seems to come down to having great overall stats. For ED'ers, that would mean a consistent 2nd semester set of grades.
And since TLS isn't the center of the universe, I imagine there are people out there who we don't even know about.
No official rank or cut off information for my app, as for as I know. Cut offs for last year stopped at top 15%, but through my own research I determined I was somewhere around the top 2% if last year's cut offs are similar to this years.

Got the hold email as well. It was pretty expected but was hoping for some better news coming out of a wicked kontracts exam. Joining the common "oh well, my grades are probably plummeting" sentiment. Guess its time to prepare some other apps.

Agreed. I'll be happy if my grades are good enough after this semester to actually update my Chicago app.Chiglaw wrote:Joining the common "oh well, my grades are probably plummeting" sentiment. Guess its time to prepare some other apps.

You already have grades? That's months of (now very difficult) waiting for me.
The only thing I can be sure of right now is that I passed Moot Court.
