Inman and the area around it (especially heading west toward harvard along cambridge st.) is popular among harvard grad students (not sure if a lot of law students there tho). Cambridge st. is really nice (darwin's cafe is pretty cool) and inman itself is a shopping center so you don't have to go far to get groceries.

Only disadvantage? It doesn't have a t-stop. Take a look at porter square as well, it has a t-stop, is closer to the law school, and has reasonable (relatively-speaking) prices.

Hey Guys, I had a quick question:

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this required 1L Legislation and Administration course is all about. Does it go over any cases, specific statutes, history, or is it like a high school civics class (except more advanced hopefully)?

I noticed that many other schools require Constitutional Law 1L year but Harvard doesn't, so perhaps legis/admin course overlaps w/ constitutional law (along with other subjects like regulatory law)?

Thought I’d pop in and see if I could help. Most Leg Reg courses start with a section on statutory interpretation, which IMO can be very dry and repetitive. Some sections spend very little time on this, while others don’t, so it really depends on the professor. In the second half of the class, we studied the functioning of administrative agencies, with a BIG chunk dedicated to judicial review of agency actions.

In terms of material—if I’m not wrong, almost all the sections used a Manning & Stephenson casebook that has not been published yet I believe. Students picked it up from the copy center. Other sections just had an Admin Law casebook.

Like I said, it really all depends on the professor. I didn’t have Rakoff, but he is an incredible Admin Law Professor, so I would assume his Leg Reg class (if he’s teaching it again this year) would have a little bit of everything.

I'm looking at a unit that has all utilities plus cable and internet included and I'm trying to attach a financial value to that.

Almost any place in Cambridge has heat + hot water included, so really "utilities" represents electricity, gas if you have a gas stove or other gas-using appliance, and then internet. Those additional inclusions probably are between $50-100 a month for electricity depending on your usage and the setup of your apartment (could be more in the Summer months if you run an air conditioner), a (possible) fairly small fee for gas/oil/other energy source, and then internet which probably has $40-$50 in value. So you're looking at anywhere from $100 to $200 a month in value, but you have to probably ask some more questions to see where you fall within those boundaries, particularly if your apartment uses electric heat. Having heat included isn't particularly helpful when you have to pay electricity for it anyway.

EDIT: With cable too, it definitely comes out to a bit more. Didn't see that the first time around.

The microphones in the classrooms were terrifying.) and Hemmingway Gym, which is nicer than I expected. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that we work out for free at all the Harvard gyms. Also- The Coop sells "Legally Brunette" tee-shirts, in case you were wondering.

I hadn't visited the law campus before, and my visit made it sink in that, yes, I will be attending HLS in the fall. I'm getting really excited and a little bit nervous; I can't wait to meet everyone on August 27th!

Maybe I was reading it wrong, but I'd be surprised if you found a place where cable/internet was included in the rent. The place I'll be moving to (in less than two weeks, yikes!) has heat and hot water included only. The best thing about Cambridge over NYC (where I currently live) is the fact that I have a deck and a shared yard. Unheard of luxury.

In any case, I can relate to the looking younger thing. I am routinely mistaken for a 16 year old, even though I am 23. Useful sometimes, but mostly irritating.

Yeah, I called the admissions office a few weeks ago, and they said that the schedules/section assignments won't be sent to us until "early august".
