Don't do that. If you have a resume together, get on that shit Dec. 1. Don't let it distract you from exams, but do it before bar review/masturbation. Waiting does you no good and may hurt you.

Mass blasting on December 1st really shouldn't take you more than half of the day, if that.
The most important thing to do will be to follow up once you have your grades. Unless you've got connections/have an amazing resume/are a literal unicorn, don't expect much from the initial mailings. Send out an update with your grades in January (or whenever you get them) to every firm that you mailed that hasn't rejected you yet. You will get a few nice responses from firms on Dec 1 saying update when grades are back, but don't limit yourself to updating only those firms.
If nothing else, this will be good practice for mass mailing come next summer, which everyone should be doing.
And like all things, ymmv, grain of salt, etc. etc.

Legit questions: How do we write cover letters for mass mailing. Also, do you just mass mail every large firm in the city you want to be in on Dec 1st for a 1l summer internship? Sorry for the ignorance.

Eh, it's not really a big deal. I started after exams and landed a modestly paying government gig. Sure, start earlier if you want to mass mail for SAs, but otherwise there probably isn't much point.

And mitigate the cc debt by using Lexis points to buy Amazon gcs. Either sell the gcs for cash at a slight loss, or use the gcs for drone deliveries in the Alps.

This is a great idea. I'm in. I'll prob just expense the cc debt to whatever firm I'm at the following summer though, tbh.

Checking in.
Have my resume ready and a cover letter (that admittedly still needs work, will do some over thx giving).
Should I just mass mail all the big firms in my area on Dec 1 (even if they don't take 1ls)? Should I tailor the cover letter if they have a specific diversity program for 1ls (I'm not really diverse though)?

I'm wanting to work at a small/mid-sized firm. How many firms should I be looking to send letters/resumes to? Also, for small firms do I need to do this on Dec 1st or can I do it after finals? Thanks

You should send letters to any and all firms until you have an offer in hand. There is no "right" number. Apply until you have the job.
As for when to send them.. I think once you have grades is better than Dec. 1, but i'm sure others will have different opinions.

Just some general guidelines:
- slim to none chances at 1L SA if you're not diverse, even T14.
- cast a super wide net. sounds like you all are focused on the 1L SA's. think judicial internships, fed/local gov, in-house.
- there are no practically enforceable rules with respect to small/local firms. however, there's no real reason to apply now. you'd be better off networking and building relationships before applying. i'd put small/local pretty low on the summer jerb totem pole though.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
