I was wondering more about summer 2016 living expenses, since most firms cover that in some form and NALP didn't mention anything about that. Answer is that Willkie does a $15k salary advance.Anonymous User wrote:Don't over-think it. Make the hotel reservation, stay there, and hand Recruiting the receipt for reimbursement. I think that most of the NYC firms do it.Anonymous User wrote:NALP says Willkie covers "reimbursement for accommodations when taking bar exam."
Anyone know what that means? Is it a stipend or salary advance?

Shoot, I haven't reaffirmed my interest in Willkie after 14 days - is this problematic? Nothing in the letter or call said we had to, but another firm's offer said so and now I'm worried it's an overall NALP thing.

Nope, NALP added it as an option but your offer letter has to specifically state whether or not it's required, so if there's no mention of it then it's not required.Anonymous User wrote:Shoot, I haven't reaffirmed my interest in Willkie after 14 days - is this problematic? I went back to the firm for a second look last week. I highly recommend it if anyone was on the fence like me. Likely turning down Sidley and Cadwalader offers for my Willkie offer. Leggo Willkie SA 2015!

Nope, nothing yet. One of my friends accepted and still hasn't received anything (unless you count an NYU offer dinner).Anonymous User wrote:Any swag for those who got an offer?

Would someone mind PMing me the names of the two hiring partners that y'all said everyone meets with at least one of (or did I misread that?)? Just got a CB from a Hail Mary Mass Mail and I'm pretty excited.

Re: Willkie callback --> offer 2014
When I went, I did the Devil's advocate approach: Spent the whole day asking 2nd, 3rd, & 4th yr associates about exit strategies and was surprised to learn that most of them didn't have any, and that they saws themselves at the firm long term. Went to my V15 firm where I had my other offer, and those guys were bubbling about where they'd go after spending their 3rd yr. It was like they couldn't wait for the day when they could leave.Anonymous User wrote:whatd you do in your second look that convinced you?

I have a screener interview I just got with them off a mass-mail follow up. Would be so stoked to eventually get an offer for the summer. I just hope there's at least a few offers left that need accepting...

they wouldn't be bringing you in if there wasn't a potential offer available for you. Kick ass and get that offer. You are capable and have the qualifications (otherwise they would not have brought you in). Be yourself and get it done.

Very happy for everyone accepting their offers, though I have a feeling my top choice will be sending me a letter any day as they finish getting the class firmed up.
Alas. I didn't come to law school expecting to enjoy being at my office, so I guess back to that mindset.
