DLA Piper?

Tough love: if you feel overwhelmed now, imagine being an overworked associate
Nope.

Eh. I was overworked the six years I worked post undergrad. Making a decision as to where I ultimately want to end up is overwhelming. Dat buyer's remorse.

I got the transcript request from DLA Piper. They didn't have a spot for it on the BADF website so I assume they sent this to everyone who applied.

Registration for the NW fair won't be up until later this evening. They've added some last minute employers who are "worth the wait."

I know ties are important for the BADF, but did we need to establish this in our application materials somehow or do they just ask about it during your interviews?

For firms that took cover letters I mentioned my ties, but for the firms that did not take cover letters, they wouldn’t be able to tell I have ties until the interview stage (I stupidly forgot to change the address on my resume to my Bay Area address).

I'm sure it's not sufficient but I hope they won't assume I have no ties if I have a diff address

Was informed by CDO/CSO that Lavender Law Job Fair is open to everyone, not just LGBT types. Anyone able to confirm this?

Do you think they are going to say "no white people allowed"? You need to read between the lines. You can always attend any job fair, it depends on your own comfort level

No I didn't think they would say that but I didn't want to have to find out I was wrong the wrong way.

I know that during some schools' early interview programs, you can contact the recruiters if you don't secure an interview through the bidding process and ask if they have any available slots for you, but would that be appropriate for these diversity fairs (if they are preselect, then lottery, a la BADCF)?

ETA: And what about independently mass mailing those firms/offices you unsuccessfully bid on - would they look unfavorably on your continuing to contact them even after they didn't preselect you?

I don't see the harm in mass mailing a firm you didn't have the opportunity to interview with during a career fair. Yes, that means that they passed you over at some point, however, pre-selected interview slots are very limited.

Yup. Wonder what this means if we bid their office?

Also, MCCA DC is not happening this year. Just got off the phone with them.

Did they elaborate on the reasons why?

Not yet, no. They're West Coast time, so probably not for a little while longer until business hours, right?

Log on to BADCF symplicity page and navigate to the OCI tab. You should see your results under the "invitations" column.

Oh shoot. Thank you.

I got four preselects, DPW, Orrick, Kirkland, and Cooley. I bid on 9. I was really hoping for Fenwick. Have they all come out now? I seem to remember that last year's thread had some people waiting a little longer for some of the preselects...
