Drug Testing for Judicial Clerkship

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Feb 24, 2014 9:29 pm

I have been offered a position as a clerk with a judge on a mid-level appellate court in a Midwestern state. What are my chances of getting drug tested, and if I do, will it be shortly before employment begins?

Thanks for your help!

No guarantees without knowing the exact court, but I would rate the chances of drug testing extremely extremely low. I wasn't drug tested as a state clerk (or as a federal clerk) and I don't know anyone who was.

I'd be surprised if you did, but talk about career killer if you did and failed. You should probably just stop doing drugs.

Was not drug tested for my SSC clerkship. I suspect it varies, but if I had to guess I'd say no.

I clerked in federal court in California, was not drug tested, and do not know anyone who was. That said, TCR is always don't do drugs if you're worried about it.
