I obviously will of course let everyone here know if I get an offer. Would OCIJ people like to use pseudonyms/numbers or something so we can kind of keep track of each other in some way?

Re: DOJ Honors 2014 EOIR-OCIJ Finalists
Hi all,
To my knowledge, my references weren't contacted, but this morning my status was changed to finalist. I interviewed in NY, and it was my first choice location.
Good luck to all, and I hope to hear some good news either from all of you or from OCIJ directly haha very soon!

Finalist C16 here; as far as I know, my references have not been contacted. I interviewed in San Diego and indicated I'd be willing to go to any location.
Seems like if we don't get a call within a few days, then we're alternates.

I know! I've been waiting for this day for long enough already. I did not work for either last summer or ever.Anonymous User wrote:A few days is way too long! Finalist over here! No call yet. As far as I know, my references were not contacted, and I'm pretty sure my mentor would have told me if he'd been contacted.Anonymous User wrote:I know! I am really dying to know how they make location placements.
Also how many finalists do you think they designate compare to first round choices? There is a good chance most of us get it, right?

Agree that a few more days is agonizing: we've traded one anxiety for another. Hopefully they don't contact references before making offers, or we'll be waiting a while. I was not a SLIP intern, nor have I worked for DOJ or EOIR.Anonymous User wrote:A few days is way too long! Nope. However, Deana hasn't posted that OCIJ finalist selections are complete, so I'm not surprised.Anonymous User wrote:Did you guys get an email yet?

Nope, but I mean all the email is going to say is what component selected us as a finalist, right?Anonymous User wrote:Did you guys get an email yet?

If this year is like last year, you won't get an email telling you you're a finalist (it only shows up in avue), and you don't find out what component selected you as a finalist. You won't know until you get an offer.

So nobody has gotten a call yet? And the e-mail doesn't tell you if you're a first round pick or an alternate?

Agreed, that's what Deana said on Avue. I got an email, too.Anonymous User wrote:Nopebsahni wrote:So nobody has gotten a call yet? And the e-mail doesn't tell you if you're a first round pick or an alternate?

does anyone else think its risky to contact EOIR saying you have another offer - I mean, I have another offer but it's an awful offer and really my last resort. but - the email seemed to imply you could use that offer to get information about your status.

I don't think so, I did this last week and got a notice I'm a finalist today.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Nopebsahni wrote:So nobody has gotten a call yet? And the e-mail doesn't tell you if you're a first round pick or an alternate?

According to Ms. Willis' post… seems like the e-mail was generic and sent to all finalists no matter if you're an alternate or first round pick.

"If you have a deadline relating to another offer and need to ascertain your status with OCIJ, please contact EOIR directly." I can see it cutting both ways...Anonymous User wrote:does anyone else think its risky to contact EOIR saying you have another offer - I mean, I have another offer but it's an awful offer and really my last resort. but - the email seemed to imply you could use that offer to get information about your status.
