What are diversity fellowships

Postby joetheplumber » Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:54 am

So some firms are hiring/giving our 1L SA jobs through these diversity fellowships but I am not sure what exactly they want. Does one have to be a minority to apply? Or just committed to helping minorities. What counts as minorities?
Any tips/advice?

Usually anyone can apply, but the programs are designed to employ ethnic minorities, LGBTs, or in some cases socioeconomically disadvantaged people. If you don't fit in any of those, you are probably fighting an uphill battle to even getting an interview much less a job.
