I want to do litigation and I care a lot about work/life quality.
MoFo Pros- 1) Excellent patent litigation practice, which is something I'm interested in 2) Solid reputation for being a good place to work 3) Tech clientele 4) Strong business outlook 5) Emphasis on life outside work, meaning people leave around dinner time and work from home after that
Cons- 1) Very mediocre office visit. A lot of neurotic people, which might stem from the IP strength 2) not a very social office (although this may result from the emphasis on life outside work)
Orrick Pros 1) Outstanding office visit, really loved the people I met and think I'd enjoy the office culture 2) Same tech clientele as MoFo 3) Innovative business model 4) Finish 11/49 on American Lawyer's Washington, DC associate satisfaction survey.
Cons 1) Got destroyed during the recession, laying off approx 20% of its non-partner attorneys 2) Lower summer associate-offer ration (they no-offered 1 out of only 4 summers last year) 3) Weaker than MoFo nationally (probably equivalent in DC)
Poll: MoFo-DC or Orrick-DC? Forum
