What. How did you get so many?
Did you get it by independently reaching out?

Lucky I guess. I don't think 20 was that uncommon.

But damn, you'd think cornell can either subsidize our hotel rooms or negotiate a discount with someone in the area, no?

edit: so anyone walking into this thing with a few callbacks under your belt? :)
Should have done this, now I feel regret and shame.

Do you mind sharing what range of Vault rankings those firms were that responded positively?
v4-v11, according to the most recent rankings

edit: you have to send in your resume and transcript to have a shot though.
Yeah, mind sharing around what GPA you had? I'm guessing top 10%?

Reaching out isn't necessary. The big firms have hospitality suites. If they like you, they'll give you a screener. At the very least you'll walk out with free swag. 8)

3L here. I recommend visiting the hospitality suites of firms you want. Usually there will be one or two 3Ls there you'll recognize. Ask them who the recruiting person is, walk up to that person, hand them your resume, introduce yourself and say "I bid on you but didn't get a screener. Is there any possibility you could fit me into the interviewers' schedule?" Worst case scenario: you wasted 5 minutes and walked out with a water bottle or something. Best case: you get another screener and possibly a CB. Don't do this with everyone; select a few firms within your range. And needless to say, you definitely don't want to waste their time by not being prepared if they actually offer you a screener.

Good luck, all!

If they offer you a screener do they give you the screener on the spot?

They'll generally fit you in when the interviewer has an opening. That may be at lunch, at the end of the day, or whatever. Sometimes you can even get lucky and get a CB, but that's relatively rare.

But even before that, if you are approaching a firm to say you specifically wanted to interview with them, it's a good idea to have an idea of why.

Edit: I think they usually call you after they have had a chance to look at you resume.

You mean you haven't gotten any calls yet? Awkward....
