What's wrong with Clifford Chance NY?

I heard clifford chance's NY/US practice is practically dead, but I can't find any evidence indicating anything negative about clifford chance NY. Any thoughts?

There's some now-old news memo that you can find a link to on TLS about how miserable associates were there. That was probably 5+ years ago now though. Don't know what rumors you're speaking of, though someone did tell me that whatever was left of their US litigation group was being phased out completely.

They were hiring 3Ls last year, so that's some sort of indicator they're busy.

They're hiring 3L's this year as well. (Or at least, they're signed up for 3L OCI)

They have 200 attorneys in NY. They must be doing something.

I've heard that its almost entirely transactional and things are much improved from the infamous memo days.
