yeah i figured that. i was just trying to figure out if these numbers correspond somewhat to the go-to schools list. I mean trying to somehow get excited for 1% growth but I don't think hardly any of it came from fresh grads. If someone thinks otherwise I'd be pretty happy to hear about it haha.

At least 1,000 of that looks like pure international acquisition. I suspect the remainder of it is purchases like Arnold & Porter scooping up that CA-based firm. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a net negative of individual associates in years 1-3 after accounting for all possible changes (promotions to year 4, exits, new hires, laterals).

Bro it's just the size, being reputable has nothing to do with it.
I get that it's just size, I just feel like every firm on there up to this point has been fairly reputable and sophisticated. Maybe I've just overlooked the shitlaw mills on the list before or didn't recognize them since they tend to be fairly local.

This just made researching where to mass-mail a whole lot easier.

There are some firms that are effectively large firms in my market that aren't on here. Don't know what yours is like.

+1

NALP Directory is still the #1 source for mass mailing

It covers most of the principle ones. Missing a couple of the smaller market-paying mid-laws, along with a few boutiques.

Since the smallest firm is 116 people, it will roughly correspond to the law school reporting category of "Firms off 100+"
True, but that information isn't always out there. I think a go-to 350 is going to show more differentiation in schools 15-30, reflecting which schools are getting people into "local biglaw" and which schools just faceplant.

Will this tell us something we can't learn from comparing the NLJ250 to firms to 100+?

It def. will matter for schools that don't make statistics accessible (UT, though we have them), and Woostle (which has not poasted them).

In any case, I'm definitely in favor of moar datas.

Plus, like, I'm just lazy. I wanna see it compiled by NLJ. Though kudos to Rayiner's tireless obsessing.

Morgan and Morgan hiring Charlie Crist is like the poor man's version of Ballantine Bushby hiring Thomas Dewey.

Same. Though most of them are now listed on this, a few somewhat larger ones are still out there where I'm at.

Yes, it's helpful, but NALP (and I know I'm the only one who thinks so, but Leadership Directories) do fill in a lot of blanks. For example:

Cohen & Wolf, 50 lawyers, 2 summers from CT, 90k starting, NALP
Shulman, Rogers, 92 lawyers, 1-2 summers, unknown starting, non-NALP, LD
Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, 73 lawyers, 3-4 summers, unknown starting, non-NALP, LD
motley rice, 60 lawyers, 5-7 summers from NC/SC, 70-80k starting, non-NALP, LD
Pullman & Comley, 82 lawyers, 2-3 summers from national, 105k starting, NALP
Whiteman Osterman & Hanna, 74 lawyers, 2 summers, 82k starting, NALP
Hahn & Hessen, 53 lawyers, 2-4 summers, 145k starting, NALP
