Buyer's market out there right now haha (in this case, the firms are the buyers)Anonymous User wrote:I think that that's the point. Fulbright runs their program the same way. V&E has a 10 week with a min of 6, and ends well before August. I think they are looking to solidify classes earlier in the game.Anonymous User wrote:What's the deal with Baker Botts only running a 6 week program? Combined with first half, this makes it well-nigh impossible to split with any peer firm.
Personally, I'm not happy about it either.

Cheeks, any reason to prefer VE over BB (over vice versa--both Houston) for litigation? Or does it really come down to 'fit', as they say?DoubleChecks wrote:Buyer's market out there right now haha (in this case, the firms are the buyers)Anonymous User wrote:I think that that's the point. The Texas split is pretty much dead now a days. Just hope for a 10wk program and net the 30g's.

Re: Texas Markets: Results Thread
I'm sure firms are well aware that almost no one is offering a second half. If you manage to get a second half firm, does it look bad still to split? Also, if you only have a second half firm, does it look bad to not have a first half firm?

Andrews Kurth does second half. So does Gibson Dunn and Weil, Dallas office. I think one locke lord office was second half. There should be at least a half dozen firms who still do second half or are actually second half only, you just have to plan way ahead to try to maximize chances there.Anonymous User wrote:The Texas split is pretty much dead now a days. FJ Dallas has about a week turnaround time for offers. They send ding letters though and it takes about 2-3 weeks for those.Anonymous User wrote:
Yikes @ VE Dallas. Do you know if FJ Dallas has a similar turnaround time? They told me that the committee meets every Friday (so I shouldn't hear for 1+ weeks), but I feel like all firms say that even when it's faster.

In Houston, LLBL accepts either half, Bracewell is 2nd half only, I believe. The person you quoted has no idea what they are talking about, or is trying to screw with others so as to increase his chance at getting the firm he really wants.Anonymous User wrote:Andrews Kurth does second half. That's what it seemed like to me until the FJ Austin office came through with a second half only offer. I guess you just have to get lucky.Anonymous User wrote:The Texas split is pretty much dead now a days. Just hope for a 10wk program and net the 30g's.

Yes (@UT). My understanding was that they were doing all their callbacks first and then giving out offers (which happened last week), so the next wave might be awhile, depending on if and how long of the 28 days it takes people to decline.Anonymous User wrote:Any Weil Dallas offers to Texas schools?
