3LOLCI?
So, a rising 3L here. Grades were high enough to place me within the cuff off gpa (that I have seen) for most firm interviews at 2L OCI (we have pre-select). However, due to a glitch on my part and personal circumstance that limited me to applying to only one market, I was not able to obtain Firm Gig 2L summer. Worked for SEC instead. Now, for 3L OCI, I have fixed the glitch and can apply to numerous market as well. I have couple of interviews with couple of top 10 firms coming up. ? is, how would you rate my chances and should I expect any realistic chances desipte the term "3LOLCI" lol. Again grades wise, I am fine. I am just trying to figure out how much my lack of 2L firm gig would affect me? thanks for any input!!

I have no kind of expertise in these matters, but if you're doing well enough to have screeners lined up with a couple of V10, I'd think you'd be certain to get something one way or another.
It's not like the lack of 2L firm gig wasn't evident on your resume. Yet they want to talk to you. I tend to think that people wouldn't bother interviewing you unless there was a chance they would hire you.
I dunno, perhaps I am missing something obvious, but I really don't see the problem here.

Re: 3LOLCI?
From what I've been advised by recruiters and career services, firms doing 3L OCI are looking to hire. It may be competitive, but a firm would not be wasting time interviewing you if they weren't actually considering you.
Good Luck!

Re: 3LOLCI?
I would like to piggyback onto this. I managed to get a pre-select for a firm in a tertiary market (100 attorney firm in Central Illinois...most people here I guess would call it midlaw). Either way, they came to OCI and are interviewing something like 8 3Ls. I have a couple of questions regarding how to go about the screener and what to expect:
1--does it hold fairly true that if the firm is here interviewing 3Ls, they are looking to hire? A firm wouldn't look at 3Ls for show, would they? Further, they wouldn't have picked me for pre-select if they weren't legitimately interested, would they? I get the feeling that some firms did that during 2L OCI with me, just to fill up interview slots.
2--I have a couple minor ties to the area, but one major one...my wife has a job lead in the market as well. A high school teaching position for the 2012-2013 school year that is hers if she wants it, doing exactly what she wants to do--her dream job. How much should I emphasize that in the interview?
3--The firm I am summering with (a small shop in suburban Chicago) will not know if they would have the money to bring me on until spring 2012, but plenty are willing to be references for me. I'm not screwed by not having the offer in hand, am I?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Stats--3.3 at an upper T1 (but not T14) school.
