Any mail dings? The letters have been quiet on my end. It makes me wonder why firms are waiting so long to accept or reject people.

Zero letters and nobody in my group of friends has received any hard copy dings yet either.Anonymous User wrote:Any mail dings? The letters have been quiet on my end. It makes me wonder why firms are waiting so long to accept or reject people.

I'm theorizing that a lot of firms have decided to seek after the same small pool of qualified people. The177+ers are waiting for the 178.5ers to reject/accept callbacks. Then, new callbacks will be given for a lot of the firms. The 176orsoers are then waiting.Anonymous User wrote:Zero letters and nobody in my group of friends has received any hard copy dings yet either.Anonymous User wrote:Any mail dings? In this case, no news really is good.

I think that is generally true, but I also think a lot of firms have yet to give out any CB as they make decisions

Re: UChicago 2011 OCI Discussion and Results
My strongest piece of evidence for the theory above is that the only place, outside of BIG NYC, that medianish people have been getting callbacks (at least the many, many I have spoken with) is with the "callback dinners." In these dinners firms have been trying to estimate how many callbacks they actually will give. For example, I spoke with a girl who said that her callback dinners have had a ton of people (10+ each), and that there were a lot of medianish people there.
Her though was "why so many?"; These firms probably have to in order to get one or two.

I don't disagree with this, but I have 178.5+ and I'm not exactly rolling in callbacks.Anonymous User wrote:I'm theorizing that a lot of firms have decided to seek after the same small pool of qualified people. It may also be that firms are finishing up their hiring for other schools and they are waiting to determine how many Chicago kids they can bring.

Don't all firms want EVERY Chicago student? Or are we not unique little snowflakes?Anonymous User wrote:It may also be that firms are finishing up their hiring for other schools and they are waiting to determine how many Chicago kids they can bring.

If that's the case then we're in trouble. I know they moved up OCI a few years back, but it's still a disadvantage to be behind everyone else.Anonymous User wrote:It may also be that firms are finishing up their hiring for other schools and they are waiting to determine how many Chicago kids they can bring.
