There are 3 law graduates for every 2 law jobs these days, and the numbers are much worse from desirable employers. The sad truth is that an employer has very little incentive to dig beyond your top line GPA given the overcrowding. You can write an eloquent cover letter, but I'm not sure that you can expect much from it.
