Phone Sex Operator And Employment Prospects

Post by 1coolnerd » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:25 pm

In college, I worked as a phone sex operator during the evenings to cover my living expenses and tuition.

I did well in college and got a good LSAT score. I plan to enter law school next year. However, would my stint as a phone sex operator affect my employment prospects? Would the state bar refuse to admit me because of this, although it is completely legal?

I know that the state bar conducts extremely thorough background checks, so they will probably find out about this. Will they reject me because of it?

Feel free to send me a PM if you feel more comfortable doing so.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's not illegal. Why not call it customer service.

I have so many questions for you, none of which relate to law school.

But, no, I don't think you'll have any problems with the state bar.

1) my guess would be that your paycheck did not come from a company name that gave away the nature of the business

2) you worked a phone bank in a customer service capacity

3) specifics of just what that capacity happened to be likely will not be discussed.

Think about it...if people with convictions at the felony level can get admitted, there is no reason your former employment should be a problem...

I think your job could even be an advantage if you spin it right, or do some phone interviews. I would actually be intrigued by someone who was a phone sex operator if I was interviewing people.

This. You could just say you worked as a customer service associate for XYZ company, and not specify on your resume that it was for a phone sex company.

I'd be wary of putting anything about 'phone sex operator' on your resume.

No one, not even AdComms or C&F Examiners, can question how you legally make a living.

That being said, GET TO THE LOUNGE OMG YOU'RE GONNA BE SUCH A BIG HIT

I'm going to post this in the lounge, since it looks like I might get more responses there.
