I appreciate the optimismAnonymous User wrote:Would it be better if you had those stats + and HYS degree? Of course. But for what a component like NSD or FBI needs, your background seems pretty perfect. Grades will matter because you're obviously doing legal work, but if there was a situation where they look past school/prestige/rank, this seems to be one.

FYI, someone from DOJ Civ contacted one of my references (who works as an AUSA in the South). So at least we know there's some movement going on.

Quoted Poster. I know this isn't helpful, but I'd rather not say.Anonymous User wrote:What civil sections did you aply to?Anonymous User wrote:FYI, someone from DOJ Civ contacted one of my references (who works as an AUSA in the South). So at least we know there's some movement going on.
ETA: I'm mostly curious to see if anyone else's references were contacted. I got the vibe that this was not part of some formal reference check but just one person going through applications who decided to proactively call references.

Well the website says interview notices are end of September right? So reference checks are probably happening soon.

A lot of components don't check references until after interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Well the website says interview notices are end of September right? So reference checks are probably happening soon.

I just didn't want anyone to freak out if their references weren't checked at this point.

Re: DOJ Honors 2016-2017 Cycle
I'm the OP whose reference was called. This is true. I really should have added that I mentioned it because it seemed that in past checks came after interviews, but components and those assigned to review applications seem to be able to check references whenever they feel like it.Anonymous User wrote:A lot of components don't check references until after interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Well the website says interview notices are end of September right? Re: DOJ Honors 2016-2017 Cycle
I don't want to out myself because I've applied only to some components hiring very few people (not NSD) but while my application still says "received" a component code has appeared in the "selected by" section. Can others check to see if this is happening to anyone else?

Different anon. Four component codes so far in my select column, but none from the component I thought would be most likely for me. Very interesting.

Third anon. I have none, but if I were to receive no interviews it wouldn't be shocking.

From the Community Tab on 9/9/16, Deanna Willis
This is almost a week to early for application status to change. So who the heck knows what this means. Maybe she'll clarify?Hi, again:
The application closed a couple of days ago and folks now want to know when the HP interview selections will be posted and when they will find out whether they are under consideration for the SLIP.
HP: Expect to see online status changes starting the afternoon of September 28th. Fun fact - this year when you are selected for an interview, the code associated with the selecting component will be displayed on your status page. If you don't know the code, there's a link that opens a master list of all the codes so you can see exactly who picked you. Once all the status updates are posted, I will send interview candidates an email message with instructions on what to do next. Specifically, it will tell them how to schedule their interview(s) and where to send supplemental materials requested by the interviewing component(s), such as writing samples, transcripts, etc. Go ahead and get informal copies of your transcript if you are feeling confident. The main HP interview period is October 17 - November 4.
SLIP: This notice comes later - expect it around October 5th. You, too, will be able to see the code for the selecting component(s). The individual components that want to interview by telephone will reach out to their candidates. There is no central interview schedule for the SLIP.
Hope this is helpful.

Re: DOJ Honors 2016-2017 Cycle
I have one code, but from my #2 choice and one that I didn't think I was competitive for at all when compared to my #1. Some components might be doing something weird in sending their selections which is making them pop up or this could be a glitch intended to brutally tease all of us.Anonymous User wrote:Different anon. Same for me. Nothing in my "selected by" box, but I won't be surprised if I am not selected by any component.Anonymous User wrote:Third anon. I have none, but if I were to receive no interviews it wouldn't be shocking.

Perhaps someone only a tiny bit more neurotic than me could call and ask? Deana's number is listed on the main pageAnonymous User wrote:Same for me. I just sent Deana a message. Also, if folks got something and they're on the spreadsheet, would they mind populating it? Just so those of us without any notifications know which ones (potentially) went out.

We should wait to confirm what this is before people start updating the spreadsheet. Could mean a million different things. There's no interview until the website tells you/you get an e-mail.Anonymous User wrote:I just sent Deana a message. I didn't have a code yesterday, but I do today. Maybe their trickling in as components get done reviewing applications?
