My red is not dark. It is kind of in-your-face red. And it is solid. However, I look patriotic as fuck w/ that red tie, white shirt and blue suit.
I'm probably just going to rock the blue tie again.

Don't wear a bright red tie.
My three interview ties are:

and

It cost me $45 for all three. They are conservative and kind of boring, but they get me through any interview situation.

What's too much for a pair of AE Park Aves? Store sticker price is 345 right now. Too high or is that standard? Should I wait for some big sale?

350 is full retail price, iirc. If you don't need them now you can snag them on sale for around 200-250 new. It's easier to find them at that price when they do sales on factory seconds, but even their regular quality ones dip down to that much. If you're up for eBay sleuthing you can get a decent used pair for 100-150 or so.kaiser wrote:What's too much for a pair of AE Park Aves? Store sticker price is 345 right now. I think they're worth 350 if you're going to use them a decent bit, but unless it's an emergency I think you should wait until they drop to the 200-250 range. Nordstrom's half yearly sale is an easy place to get a deal on them. The AE store regularly runs sales (especially on factory seconds). Sometimes you can find a pair at Nordstrom Rack.

Johnston Murphy Meltons are good/cheaper alternatives. You can get them for 80-125, depending on the sale. Otherwise, retail is a little more than that.kaiser wrote:What's too much for a pair of AE Park Aves? Store sticker price is 345 right now. Too high or is that standard? Don't get the first one for interviews, its fine for other uses though. The crimson pin dot is TCR. And definitely normal, unless you're an abnormally tiny dude, skinny ties shouldn't be worn to interviews or to work IMO.dj_roomba wrote:http://www.thetiebar.com/order_page.asp ... ValueIds=7

Is there any reason to get the random $700 shoes from Nordstrom over the $300 AE's? I couldn't see any difference at all.

depending on the brand & the line there are other things beyond brand cache that can justify prices exceeding AE. but tldr, no you don't care about them if you didn't notice them (whether because the shoes in question did not exhibit these features and were only upcharged for the brand, or you aren't the targeted demographic).
this is especially true for an interview shoe

Ok. I will apologize beforehand, I have not read the whole thread. I'm sorry. But can anyone suggest a place to get a great looking suit with great quality for <$1,000? Thank you!
Also, I did see suitsupply is nice but how is the process? Is it difficult?

suit supply sells off the rack suits. You go in, they give you a beer (seriously), you pick out one you like, try it on, and pay for it. $500.florentine wrote:Ok. I'm impressed that a men's fashion thread is longer running than any women's fashion thread.

The men's fashion threads on TLS are more engaged than the women's fashion threads. The same thing seems to be true on reddit (unless I'm missing some super popular women's fashion subreddits that eclipses the men's fashion ones). My guess is that it has to with how men use the internet compared to women.mephistopheles wrote:turbotong wrote:I'm impressed that a men's fashion thread is longer running than any women's fashion thread.

Thoughts on this tie in Navy (Ink)?
http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/inde ... d=21634246
I recently came across one very similar for $45 at one of their sales. Is it too dark/narrow? Most of the people on here have recommended just dots or something similar

Or just do this, because it's just more conservative which means better for interviews:
