Oh come on guys...I interviewed with him at Illinois and had a meeting with him during my 1L year. I like the guy! I thought he was one of the better interviewers I've had. We were able to have a good conversation--it certainly wasn't awkward, the way some interviews are. Of course, I'm still waiting to hear from them, but I'm hoping for a CB.

Are you a URM? If not, seems like NYC is looking OK, Chicago is a bloodbath.

WUSTL, top 50% + journal
14 screeners, 3 callbacks, 2 offers.
Never went on the 3d callback after the 2 offers since they were my top 2 choices.
SF IP market.
Turns out WUSTL does have national reach?

URM? IP? Impressive undergrad? WE? That seems like a lot more CBs than most with top 20% grades. I think we'd like to know more about what made you so successful rather than what Vault level the firms are at. Congrats on the success, would like to hear more.Anonymous User wrote:New York. New York is where to go, even for us midwest schools. I have three V100 (2 V50) CBs in NYC, none in the midwest yet.Anonymous User wrote:New York. All v100 including 1 v10 and 2 v25s. A couple of people got callbacks from ND at Taft Cincy.Anonymous User wrote:Any updates on Cincinnati/Columbus/Cleveland/Detroit?
Honigman Detroit screeners were here today, I thought mine went reasonably well but they tend to hire mostly from Michigan.

I have ok but not incredible WE and undergrad, not IP or URM.
If I had to guess why I'm doing well, I'd say it's because I don't buy into the whole TLS idea that grades/urm/undergrad prestige are the end all be all of law firm hiring. Those things may get you in the door of an interview room, but they will not get you a callback. In my experience, success in this process requires the ability to show that you're charming, articulate and interesting in 20 minutes without making it look like work. The people conducting interviews generally seem more willing to take a chance on someone they would like to work with rather than a kid who just happens to be good at law school exams.
I guess the short answer is that I'm a good interviewer and I don't let the fact that others have better grades than I do affect my performance in this process
